Image Credit: @somesayimmodest Like many others in my generation, the original Sailor Moon series was their entry into the world of anime. Of course, there was Pokémon , Dragon Ball Z , and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing , but Sailor Moon was the first time many young watchers saw a female heroine protagonist. With a large focus on shonen series growing up, Sailor Moon was a pivotal series that grabbed the attention of us who maybe didn’t know it at the time, but needed to see a young woman who was powerful, quick-witted, and represented all things cutesy. After almost 30 years of airing in the US and the 2023 Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos movie release, Sailor Moon has proven time and time again that it dominates the shojo sphere and is backed by a community of fans with unwavering passion. One person who is not shy to share her love of Sailor...

The long wait for console players to get in on the fun with Phasmophobia is now over, with Kinetic Games finally releasing their hit co-op game onto PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, and the Xbox Series. As an additional treat, this year’s free Halloween community event, Crimson Eye, will also be available for console players on purchase.
Per Kinetic Games’ latest blog entry, Crimson Eye sees the return of the Blood Moon from last year’s Halloween event. Paranormal energy has drastically increased in several locations, resulting in a new weather type, The Blood Moon.
Players must enter these cursed locations and complete investigations, optional objectives and photograph any Blood Altars you may find to earn blood points. You must work together with the Ghost Hunting Community to collect blood points, which will in turn earn you brand-new rewards. However, during the Blood Moon, ghosts will be empowered and stronger than ever.

There have been rumblings that Marvel Studios is developing a Midnight Sons movie revolving around the McU's supernatural heroes for several years now.
Werewolf by Night opened the door to exploring that corner of this shared world when it introduced us to Jack Russell and Man-Thing, while a few different projects have confirmed the existence of vampires. We also have Agatha All Along, a series delving into witchcraft and one that's potentially going to introduce characters like Mephisto and Death.
Moon Knight is another character who would fit nicely into Midnight Sons, though Blade is arguably the project that's most likely to lay the groundwork for any sort of supernatural team-up.
Yesterday, we learned that Blade is no longer set to be released next November. With it now undated, it feels like a matter of time before Mahershala Ali leaves the reboot due to "creative differences" or "scheduling issues."
No one wants that to happen,...

Marvel's new "Ultimate" universe has been a success since it launched last year. Set in a similar but different timeline, "Ultimate Marvel" is a great on-ramp for new readers, with higher stakes, wilder experimentation, and a much lighter backlog.
The one-shot "Ultimate Universe: One Year In" #1 is coming this December. Marking the almost one-year anniversary since Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto's "Ultimate Spider-Man" launched in January, "One Year In" will "set the stage" for "Ultimate Marvel," Year Two.
At New York Comic-Con, Marvel confirmed a new hero will be debuting in "One Year In" — Ultimate Wolverine, who will spin-off into an ongoing series come January 2025. "Ultimate Wolverine" will be written by Chris Condon (writer of Western-horror-noir comic "That Texas Blood") and drawn by Alessandro Cappuccio ("Moon Knight"). Spain, we have a problem. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews and I don't feel good about bashing films. I try to remain positive and talk about what I love. But sometimes there's a movie that is just so terrible, so miserable, such a waste of time and talent, that it is necessary to write about just so that the film industry can learn from their mistakes. I doubt they will. They will continue making bad films like this one. But at least I expressed my frustration and dissatisfaction in hopes that maybe they would spend money on better projects next time around. Luna (which translates to simply Moon) is a Spanish science fiction thriller film directed by filmmaker Alfonso Cortés-Cavanillas. Because it's an entirely Spanish production made mainly for Spanish audiences, the film had its world premiere at the 2024 Sitges Film Festival in Spain/Catalonia. It's bad. Like, really bad.

Following his Rebel Moon films, Zack Snyder is going smaller – and a UFC movie looks to be his next choice. More here.
Over the last couple of decades, Zack Snyder has become synonymous with effects-driven films. 2006’s 300 really pushed him into a career that would includes lots of heavily-stylised superhero and action movies.
With the release of his two Rebel Moon films for Netflix, though, there seems to be a growing line of thought that the filmmaker has pushed his house style to its limits and it feels like both he – and his audience – are ready to try something else.
That doesn’t mean that we’ll never see Zack Snyder use high contrast lighting or slow motion again. When Netflix recently cancelled his planned Army Of The Dead prequels, Snyder said he would be heading back to the ‘insanity’ of that style of filmmaking at some point, but...

Jax Taylor And Brock Davies Go At It

One character who surprised all of us with his powers in Demon Slayer was Zenitsu. Who knew he had so much potential and power beyond the supposedly weak exterior? The character has clearly come a long way, and the best way to gauge his true potential is to compare his strength against the strongest character of the series.
If I had to compare his strength with that of one of the other characters, I’d make the bold claim that Zenitsu is the only character who can match the feats of Tokito Muichiro. While his strength is not yet comparable with the youngest Hashira, he does have the potential to break the records set by Muichiro.

Earlier this year, Full Moon founder Charles Band announced that his company was launching a new production label called Pulp Noir, which will focus on “edgier, weirder, darker horror and dark fantasy films.” They also set up a Patreon account where fans can subscribe and show their support for the company while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the making of these films. In the eyes of Trekkies, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" may be the greatest TV series of all time. No other show -- not "The Sopranos," not "M*A*S*H," not "Manimal" -- has come close to the high quality and rich premise of the adventures of the Enterprise-d in the 24th century. Famously, creator Gene Roddenberry took core concepts from his 1966 "Star Trek" series and enhanced them for "The Next Generation," creating an even more aggressively utopian world that was even more forthright about its anticapitalist, anticolonialist intentions. He even instigated a rule among the show's writers that no two characters were allowed to bicker, and no stories could stem from interpersonal conflicts. In Roddenberry's vision, everyone got along at all times.
Writers, naturally hated this idea, as they felt conflict is the best way to create drama. For the first two seasons, Roddenberry, writers, and lawyers all butted heads over the series.

Oscar Isaac has portrayed Moon Knight in the MCU, a character expected to appear in Secret Wars with most other heroes that have been introduced in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. However, Isaac might be in for some heavy work in Secret Wars the claims of an industry insider are true, owing to the fact that the actor is a part of the two other universes that have confirmed connections to the MCU.

Demon Slayer is one of the most popular anime franchises ever, with over 200 million copies sold. The franchise recently finished airing season 4, which became a massive hit. Even though the manga concluded in 2020, its popularity has always been on the rise. One of the best things about Demon Slayer is the antagonist, Kibutsuji Muzan.
Kibutsuji Muzan is the Demon King, who is the main target of the demon slayers. He is the sole reason why the Demon Slayer Corp was created in the first place. His intelligence is unparalleled, but there is only one incident where his emotions got the better of him. Muzan has always been a rational character, but fans believe killing his doctor is the only time he regretted taking a life.

Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer has reached great heights of popularity in a short span of time. For many fans, Demon Slayer has become the definitive of anime for its spectacular animation. The credit also partially goes to the wide variety of characters. The unparalleled track record wouldn’t have been possible without a strong vision behind it.
Going through Koyoharu Gotouge’s interviews gives one a sense of the creator’s strong and specific vision. When something doesn’t align with their idea, the creator doesn’t shy away from removing it altogether. Sometimes, the characters bear the brunt of this vision as shared by Gotouge in an interview.

‘The Killer’s Game’ Star Sofia Boutella Talks Her Action Respite and ‘Rebel Moon’ Character’s Future
Sofia Boutella desperately needed a break from action, and J.J. Perry’s The Killer’s Game provided exactly that.
After devoting nearly the entirety of 2022 to her most physically demanding role yet as Kora/Arthelais in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon franchise, Boutella was relieved that she didn’t have to bear the burden of being the primary action hero in Perry’s action-comedy. Instead, she was charmed by the romantic role she was offered alongside her former Hotel Artemis co-star Dave Bautista. Her Rebel Moon character also didn’t have the greatest luck in the romance department, so The Killer’s Game’s more hopeful love story likely appealed to her as well.
The Algerian actor’s physical background is still on full display in the opening sequence, as her character, Maize, is a ballet dancer who’s eying retirement when she meets Bautista’s assassin character, Joe Flood.

Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight came out in 2022 and received positive response among critics and audiences. While there were some flaws in the depiction of the superhero, fans expected to see more of the character in the MCU. Two years have since passed without any significant update about a second season of the show. The reason is most likely the creative overhaul in Marvel’s television side of things.

He shared that Marvel will produce shows more like traditional TV, that would last multiple seasons and many years. However, it might be too late for Moon Knight to become part of this new change.

Filmmaking is a ruthless business. You grind yourself half to death trying to make a name for yourself, finally make it to the big leagues with a well-received hit like Leigh Whannell's "The Invisible Man," parlay that success into a top-secret project like "Wolf Man," and then some harebrained marketing stunt goes and ruins it all. If that sounds a little dramatic, well, that's only because you haven't yet seen the latest big reveal from -- of all places -- this year's Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. The annual spooky fest has always been a treat for theme park aficionados, but this time it came with an extra surprise: our first public look at Whannell's "Wolf Man" (lucky CinemaCon attendees already got a sneak peek earlier in April). To put it generously, the reactions are decidedly ... mixed.

After working on The Witcher (he made headlines for saying the creative team hated Andrzej Sapkowski's books), Beau DeMayo looked set to play a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After initially working on Moon Knight, he was tapped to take charge of X-Men '97 as Head Writer and later came on board the Blade movie for a rewrite. However, the scribe parted ways with Marvel Studios on the project and was fired from the animated revival earlier this year.
Things got increasingly messy from there, with claims of sexual misconduct on DeMayo's part and possible racism and homophobia from Disney/Marvel Studios. Now, he's filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the non-disparagement provision in his separation agreement.
In a 30-minute video posted to his OnlyFans account (via Variety), DeMayo broke his silence on Blade, alleging Marvel executives joked in front of him that they'd hired "a young...

Demon Slayer’s Kibutsuji Muzan is a character with many talents. The Demon King possesses unrivaled looks, unique abilities, and a high intelligence quotient. He can create demons at will by transplanting his blood into another individual. Often, he is seen in different avatars to blend with humans to search for Blue Spider Lily.
Even though he possesses such qualities, he is not the most intelligent character in the Demon Slayer universe. There is another person who holds that title. The most intelligent character in Demon Slayer is the physician who turned Muzan into the Demon King. He was trying to cure Muzan, who was on his deathbed. Ethan Hawke rolled through the Venice Film Festival this morning for a career Q&a ahead of a gala event this evening where he will present Aussie filmmaker Peter Weir with a career achievement award.
The session was long and partly in Italian. Hawke’s answers were lengthy and he covered many subjects in contemporary cinema. One of the topics discussed was the idea of passion projects and how to make them happen. At that point, Hawke shared his opinion on Francis Ford Coppola’s $120 million self-funded Megalopolis.
“I love that Coppola sold his winery to make that film. I think that’s amazing,” Hawke said of Megalopolis.
“Greed runs our universe. If you say you just wanna make money everyone understands what you’re going for. I love it when people keep the great dream alive of making something magnificent. And it’s very hard because the whole industry...

This summer we’ve celebrated the 45th anniversary of “Alien” and the 15th anniversary of “Moon,” two of the greatest stuck-in-space films ever made. We’ve also been watching a related plot play out in reality, as Boeing’s ill-fated Starliner has left astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore idling at the International Space Station.
So perhaps at another time, Mikael Håfström’s “Slingshot” would get a pass for effort, if nothing else.
This is, admittedly, a challenging genre. But given its provocative potential, a halfhearted take feels particularly disappointing.
The film’s listless energy begins with John (Casey Affleck), an astronaut years into his mission to Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. For someone trapped in a metal capsule, John initially appears to be doing ok. But when his ground commander (David Morrissey) checks in “to stress the importance of your psych evaluation,” we’ve got a pretty clear idea where things are headed.

Oscar Isaac has played three characters across the Marvel Multiverse: Moon Knight in the MCU proper, Apocalypse in Fox’s X-Men, and Miguel O’Hara in Sony’s Spider-Verse films. Come Secret Wars, it is expected that a slew of non-mcu Marvel characters will be making their way into the MCU to fight Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Given that Doctor Doom would have messed up multiple timelines and could have made enemies outside the Sacred Timeline, it is expected that even antagonists will join the fray to battle God Emperor Doom. Oscar Isaac might be there as Moon Knight, but there is one other character that could aid the heroes of the MCU to fight Doom, someone already confirmed to be part of the same multiverse depicted in the MCU: Miguel Ohara a.k.a Spier-Man 2099.

This Sailor Moon Cosmos The Movie review contains no spoilers.
Ten years after the premiere of Sailor Moon Crystal and three years after Netflix’s release of the Sailor Moon Eternal duology of films, a second duology—Sailor Moon Cosmos—faithfully adapts the fifth and final arc of Naoko Takeuchi’s iconic manga, bringing a definitive and satisfying close to the Crystalverse experiment.
The story of Sailor Moon Cosmos revolves around the revelation that there are Sailor Guardians not just for the planets of our solar system but all planets throughout the galaxy. Sailor Galaxia, a narcissistic nihilist bent on attaining godhood to destroy and remake the universe in her image, is capping off her campaign of galactic destruction by coming to Earth to harvest the Sailor Crystals, the last great MacGuffin required to realize her goal. Zack Snyder’s time with DC may be a thing of the past. However, he continues to work on epic franchises, with his original creation, Rebel Moon, having seen the release of two movies already. The talented director has every intention of converting Rebel Moon into a space opera franchise, much like the likes of Star Wars and Star Trek.
The Rebel Moon movies recently released R-rated director’s cuts (Credit: Netflix).
However, what sets his franchise apart is the fact that despite the two movies not getting an R-rating, they have received respective Snyder cuts that are full of gore, violence, and everything else one can expect from an R-rated franchise. Regardless, as it turns out, the talented director had to undergo a fair share of negotiations to make his Snyder cuts a reality.

Should Marvel officially renew Moon Knight, the series will become only the second live-action Disney+ Marvel show to land a second season – though it seems Ms. Marvel season 2 is also being mulled by Disney execs so perhaps the list will grow even more soon.
Moon Knight’s first season most certainly set up a second season with the season ending with the official introduction of Steven Grant’s third alter-ego, Jake Lockley, who was seen working with Khonshu in the final scene of the season.

Unfolding in two very different locations, “Moon,” the elliptical second feature from Iraq-born Austrian filmmaker Kurdwin Ayub (“Sun”) follows a mixed martial arts fighter who has reached the end of her competitive career. Faced with a lack of opportunity in her small Austrian town, she accepts a temporary gig training the daughters of an ultra-rich, but shady Jordanian family. While the multiple ellipses may annoy the more narratively-driven viewer, others will thrill to the mood Ayub creates and the way she plays with audience expectations. The film nabbed a special jury prize in Locarno competition as well as the independent film critics kudos, and should be in demand at further fests.
After her last go-round in the Mma cage leaves her sorely beaten and defeated, Sarah (Florentina Holzinger) falls into a depression. Previously, she lived to train and compete, but now she has a hard time figuring out her next step.
