Cars on the Road is an okay enough miniseries, but I was rather underwhelmed too. Not only are the episodes surprisingly short, but I feel like they don't utilise their fullest potential (The Legend and B-Movie both come close though). The first two episodes are mostly dream sequences and one episode is mostly just about trucks singing. It's 6-minutes, so I didn't mind it too much, but it's probably the most pointless episode of the show.
I thought this miniseries would've been more to be honest. I feel like you can just edit all the episodes together as a movie, which is funny because the entire show overall is 74-minutes in length.
Overall, it's okay, but nothing groundbreaking.

Really just popped up on my Disney+ and had no idea this was being made nor has released, but it came as a pleasant surprise. I love the cars universe, so any more of that and I'm game. This really short show, which might otherwise be seen as Cars shorts, is really enjoyable.
The animation is right on par with the movies, here with some great scenes, loved the carnival scenes and the directing and editing during the haunted house episode. But generally it had this lovely look to it we all know and love from Pixar. Mater and McQueen are the main characters here and I think they are balanced well, some people might dislike Mater but I think he's totally fine. He's even a bit more toned down here versus something like Cars 2.
Now most of the show is just fun, though everyone of them tries to tell a small story, or life lesson of sorts. Only really the last one has some emotional value to it. But it's kept very simple and obviously adults aren't the target audience for this, that said I still liked it. It was over in a flash, every episode is around 5 minutes or so, you could watch the whole season in an hour.
It's literally just a fun small road trip with every episode having a little theme, some more original than others. Other taking heaving inspiration on parodying movies like Mad Max. I thought those were okay, less memorable though. The final episode, the haunted hotel, and salt fever are my favorites by a small margin.
I could imagine if you did know about this coming and got yourself excited for it that it could be a letdown due to how short it is. I didn't have that though and really enjoyed it, could do for more though!

The show itself is fine, it's a neat bunch of short episodes with different kinds of fun themes and messages.
However, what bothers me is the lack of creativity in this show as a whole. So little of the world of, well, sentient living cars is utilized. The characters are living cars, and the only episode which utilizes that in a way some other show featuring living objects is the Salt Fever. Pretty much with every other storyline they have come up with, the characters could be replaced with anything other than cars, and it would function in the exact same way.
The themes in the episodes are also pretty played out, when talking about kids programs, haunted house, clowns, some horrible monster that turns out to be good?
What I was, and still am looking for from this show is the level of fun and interesting themes as seen with the Cars Toons. All the crazy stories, wacky characters and funny plots. This show compared to that is just real life. It's mondaine, it's boring, you can always guess what comes next, all in all it's the regular life, and what kid want's to watch regular boring life next to a ton of wacky stories revolving around Monster car wrestle, Mater becoming a drift king or a Astronaut, or any of the other great ideas they poured into that show.
TLDR: It's a mediocre kids show, nothing new, great animation and a few good episodes and moment's here and there, but nothing to be remembered when comparing to the excellent Cars Toons.

I was sceptical of this show at first but was enjoyable but not as good as the movies there are 9 episodes and all of them are enjoyable in their own way. But some are weak like episode 6 is the weakest because not much happens. But the animation looks better than I thought, characters are nice and I like the new characters as well. But not every new character is great because some are not some are not developed well, and some episodes are boring and I don't care for them and some episodes are too chaotic to the point where they're not fun to watch. Overall it's just a nice fun adventure series with chaos fun and interesting characters overall if you're interested in it watch it.

"The animated series "Cars on the road" takes us on a journey with Lightning McQueen and Mater as they embark on various adventures on the open road. The animation is certainly eye-catching, with vibrant colors and intricate details that make the world come to life. Despite this, the plot and characters lack the depth and charm necessary to make a lasting impression. While there are a few comedic moments scattered throughout, they are not enough to make up for the lack of substance.
Despite its shortcomings, "Cars on the Road" still manages to evoke a certain level of nostalgia and whimsical joy. For younger viewers, the animation and lighthearted moments will undoubtedly bring a smile to their face. For those looking for a relaxing and carefree evening of entertainment, this series is a decent choice.
In conclusion, "Cars on the Road" scores a 6 out of 10. While it fails to reach its full potential, it still offers a visually stunning and lighthearted experience that may entertain and delight viewers of all ages."

Fans of the cars series, me especially, have been waiting quite a while for new cars content to be released (other than shorts). Now with Cars: on the Road being released, I will say its a refreshing and great addition to the Cars content.
The story of the show was very enjoyable and had me laughing at some moments while also creating feelings of nostalgia and looking back to times now passed. The animation feels exactly like the first Cars movies. The overall quality of the design and characters is superb. Every episode explored a different idea allowing extended world building of the Cars franchise. I also felt that the show was very similar to Maters Tall Tales which I have a place in my heart for since I watched it when I was younger.
My only complaint would be the length of the episodes. It would've been better to make the episodes 20-30 minutes long to further explore and world build.
Overall a great show for the family and Cars fans alike (with a lot of pop culture references too).

I loved this show, it was so funny. I loved Ivy so much. I think I will try to get a figure of her !
Hope they will do another seasons. We really discover more about the world of Cars !
I was so scared that I would be too short but it was okay honestly !
I was happy to see more about the new racer of the 3rd film, would be nice if there's a movie about her.
It really reminded me for the type of shows I was watching as a kid. I hope some kids saw it and loved it !
It's just sad it was released the same day than everything, I hope nobody will miss it !
So yeah, for every fan of the movies, go watch this show. It was so nice.

I was expecting that the episodes should be at least 20-30mins each. But only 6-7 mins episodes after 5 years of waiting. That was the only thing i didn't like.
But apart from this. The story was awesome. The animation was awesome. The cameo of Cruz in the last episode was a great idea. Lightning and Mater most lovable characters. Short but to-the-point episodes. It could be longer. But next, we are expecting a full-length movie with a good story.
I wish I could join Disney Pixar's Animation Team. The best animation production house. I wish I can join any of them Pixar, Illumination, or Dreamworks.

Gave my child nightmares. I turned it off as soon as I saw it reference the shining. Shocked Disney would release this and give it a G rating. Very disappointed!
You can't trust Disney these days even when all other content made with these characters has been great and kid friendly. I'm frustrated by the assignment of a G rating and feel it is far to scary for this rating. I hope Disney can learn from the feedback received on this and that they can try and keep our kids in mind next time they make a show with such beloved characters. Would not recommend and frankly makes me feel distrusting of the G rating on other Disney content.

It was a great way to continue the Cars franchise just like their three movies and their show Cars Toon Mater's Tall Tales, some characters of their previous movies make cameos and we meet some new characters like Ivy, the animation is great, the theme song is catchy and perfect and the entire show is just plain perfect, it premeired on the Disney+ day just like the Pinocchio (2022) live action remake and they have nine episodes and way better than Blaze And The Monster Machines, the Cars franchise is so awesome and great just like the movie itself which is so many times better than Mars Needs Moms, Strange Magic, Underdog (2007), The Wild (2006) and every Disney direct to video sequels.

Two lovely pals going over some adventures during their trip to Mater's sister wedding and had a lot of highs and lows.
I just watched this show because I've loved and watched all Cars movies since I was a child, but this one was just a mediocre show of beloved Lightning McQueen and Mater no special events at all.
The second contained a resemblance to the move "The shining" and was kind of reminding me of that unforgettable show!
It was also a boring series which made me skip some scenes and go to see what happens at the end.
Although the ending was expectable my interest in this one was higher than a normal and meaningless spin-off of those lovely triple movies.

After 5 years of waiting from the last Cars film, and 2 years since this TV show was announced, we get just 5 minute episodes. After that are the credits, so it's not 10 minutes.
The story of each episode is odd. Scary-packed characters that has NO connection to the world that was introduced in the first Cars movie. What we saw before was beautiful area of Radiator Springs country - now it's all ruined. Like every new character's behavior was crazy. Odd.
If you're doing something like this, make a proper, long-term TV show, not shorts again. Stay true to the world that you introduced in the first movie. We fell in love with Radiator Springs and the world around it. Now, it's all almost ruined.
At least, episode 9 was decent. Characters and story.

I thought this was going to be another really bad Disney spin off but it wasn't so I'm really grateful for that.
It's actually a really entertaining series. And I love how they have managed to make such a lovely series with some nostalgia to it without destroying the whole franchise which is quite rare these days.
It actually got a pretty decent storyline to with lots and lots of things happening in the series every single episode. I would love to see more seasons of this series and also longer episodes because now the episodes are like 10 minutes and the Main part is about 6 minutes and then the credits are for like 4 minutes so it's about half an episode.
It was a nice experience. Good job!

Cars on the Road should have been an easy home run. Mater and Lightning go on a road trip and get into a series of mostly disconnected little adventures. What 4 year old wouldn't love that?
Instead what we get is a series of the most confusing, wrong-headed story choices I've seen in memory. Literally 7 of the 9 episodes have something in there that's giving my 2 year old and 4 year old nightmares. Who the writers thought they were writing for is beyond me. Allow me to do an episode-by-episode breakdown:
Episode 1 - The Dinosaur Park
This episode is more or less alight (despite it making the Cars universe lore even more confusing). There's a perhaps too-frightening scene wherein Lightning is nearly killed by a T-Rex analogue prehistoric vehicle, but I was willing to look past it at the time.
Episode 2 - The Shining
Yes. This episode is an homage to the R-Rated horror classic from 1980. **This episode is straight up scary.** That scene with the twins in the hallway? Yeah that happens. And they start melting and deforming while they chase lightning. Who then runs into the elevator that recreates the torrent of blood scene - except with antifreeze. Finally, it's revealed that the motel actually is haunted by an actual ghost car.
Episode 3 - Mater dies at the Salt Flats
In this episode Mater dies and meets the Cars universe version of the Grim Reaper. Yup. Immediately after the "The Shining" episode we have an episode where that happens. Mater is ultimately saved in a silly way, but it doesn't negate the fact that **Mater dies and meets the Cars Grim Reaper**.
Episode 4 - Monster Hunters
You detecting a theme here?
Lightning and Mater join a society of monster-hunter cars who are chasing what turns out to be a Bigfoot analogue. Again talk of monsters and what they do to you.
Episode 5 - Scary Clowns
**YES LITERALLY ANOTHER EPISODE ABOUT SCARY STUFF.** Lightning turns out to have a fear of clowns. They go to the circus and there are clown cars that are, yeah pretty weird.
Don't worry surely this is the last episode featuring something scary.
Episode 6 - Trucks
This is one of the two episodes I don't have any problems with. There's a song about trucks.
Episode 7 - Zombie Movie
This one Mater and Lightning are cast as extras in a movie featuring zombie cars and a weird spider car. Lots of Zombie talk and cars pretending to be goofy zombies.
Episode 8 - Mad Max Fury Road
Lightning and Mater are captured by a society of Mad Max cars living in the desert and **pitted against each other in a death game wherein only one will survive**. They get deus ex machinaed out of the situation.
Episode 9 - The Wedding
The other episode that's fine.

Get ready to go "Lightning" fast when you watch Cars on the Road, a new spinoff series from Disney/Pixar. With nine episodes ranging around ten minutes in length, this show is perfect for pre-existing Cars fans and younger kids. The catchy tunes are a wonderful backing for the colorful animation and short stories happening on screen. Get comfortable in your seat because Cars on the Road will keep you riveted with its action and adventure.
Cars on the Road follows Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) as they go on a long road trip to attend Mater's sister's wedding. A distinct mini-plot takes up the majority of each individual episode, with the only overlapping plot points being the roadtrip. One of the best episodes involves a well-developed character who discovers her inner self and finds where she belongs. With appearances of other characters from the original Cars movies, as well as many brand new characters, Cars on the Road is sure to keep you watching.
Cars on the Road has some of the most real looking, 3D-seeming animation I've ever seen. In one of the episodes, Lightning and Mater arrive at a speed stop, where cars are getting attachments in order to drive faster. They stop to talk and there's a building and trees in the background. It is truly stunning how much the cars look like they are popping off the screen. The animation throughout the show is also colorful and fun, setting a cheerful tone. However, when the show hits a couple of dark moments, that cheerful color vanishes, replaced by a dark and gloomy feel. So, not only is the animation pleasing for the eyes, it helps to tell the story with changes in moods. On the other side of things, the music is so upbeat and fun. It's engaging and catchy. The theme song that plays at the beginning of each episode is the perfect short clip for this show. On top of that, there are a few other songs spread throughout that have to do with that episode's story. They are naturally included, and I always look forward to when the next song will appear. The animated dancing that goes along with these songs is also pretty brilliant. To put a cherry on top, the acting performances are wonderful. A few of the original Cars actors star in this show, as well as plenty of actors new to the Cars world. They make their characters' personalities funny, vulnerable, sweet and always lovable by kids. One character and acting performance that stands out as adding positive energy to the show is Ivy, who is played by Quinta Brunson. She gives the already lively character her own personal spark. Ivy truly shines throughout the show.
Cars on the Road is definitely a perfect pick for a young child. There are vital messages that are clearly conveyed in each episode. Sometimes, the characters even talk about that episode's lesson and reflect on how they could've been a better friend or sister. Among many others, teamwork, healthy friendships and knowing that your opinion isn't the only opinion are some of the primary themes of Cars on the Road.
I give Cars on the Road 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 2 to 8. Three-two-one-GO! Have some fun watching Cars on the Road exclusively on Disney+ beginning September 8, 2022. By Kyla C., KIDS FIRST!

After so many years since Cars 1..
From little one, to the..
Now we got Cars 4!
They made it a series, people complain about how episodes are too short, or.. put them all togehter in a row.. You get about 1:10/20h.. let's say without ends, let's cut even on 1h, but it's still an hour! Its movie!
They become part of new trend, as example Marvel doing in last time.. movies in episodes.. Well this is Cars movie in episodes!
It's beautiful story and adventure!
Animation is so perfect!
We even got beautiful songs, and one episode it's actually music spot of Cars worth reward!
Thank you Disney for once again for magic which you have made! Started as little one, writing review as.. Who knows, might for.. some "old car" write review for Cars 10, hahaha..
So yall, go, watch it, and enjoy!
If you follow cars since begining, and if you were young back then, it's going to be even better, kinda emotional!
Don't wanna share anything in the end.. But I hope we get soon what our old pal said to McQueen..

WTF Disney? Are you trying to give kids nightmares? The episode Lights Out is not little kid friendly. So disappointing because my 2 year old absolutely loves Cars so I was so excited for this new show. However we couldn't even finish the second episode because he was getting too scared and he's been having bad dreams these past few nights.
I ended up watching the rest without him to see which ones were age appropriate and less then half of them were.
I give it a five because the episodes he can watch were really cute and I'm sure older kids would enjoy the whole series but I would definitely screen it before your littles watch.

The only connection from one episode to another is the fact they're driving to a wedding. Each episode apart from the last has no connection to the previous episodes nor to the previous 3 movies. The episodes are about 6 minutes long and for one episode, all it is is truck's singing that they're trucks. There is no emotional connection to any characters like there is in the movies. I felt very let by the series and didn't enjoy one bit of it and I absolutely love cars 1 and 3.
Overall, very dissapointed and wouldn't even consider watching another season if it related at all to this one. Disney do better.
