Story holds you until 5 episodes, then it starts streching with out any big reason, dont tell you what happens with Sunil Grover in the end. I cut 1 for editing to strech with no reason, 2nd slowness which bore you in many parts and 3rd for incomplete and bore climax. 4th One time watch for sure.

Sunflower is a corporate society Or at least the committee is wanted it tobe. Sunflower a web series by zee5 is a mixture of suspense and comedy. Solving the case of murder of raj kapoor flat1001 owner is the base plot. Sonu singh(sunil grover) is a bachelor who is doing right things but the timing is wrong. Police officer(Ranveer shorey) looks sharp in his acting as he always do. 1002 flat owner double phd literally hates raj kapoor, his neighbour and he is the one of the suspect. Story do slow down a bit in the middle but nevertheless, Script,acting and dialogue are up to the point. Sunil grover gave his best.

The series is extremely funny and enjoyable. A strong and humorous murder mystery with a stellar cast and equally good execution. They have handled so many subjects in only eight episodes. It's unbelievable. We get attached to individual characters One of the only few Indian web series that have lined upto the standards set by western productions.

What Works for this: A different kind of script, not often seen in Indian Web Series. Hats off to the makers for attempting something different.

The cast is stellar with known faces like Sunil Grover, Girish Kulkarni, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ranvir Shorey. Works well & keeps viewers engaged.

There are some genuinely funny moments where the hospital staff who have come to collect the murder victims body wrap it and use it as a pillow to rest while having their cuppa tea.

Earnest effort put in by Sunil Grover, Girish Kulkarni and Ranvir Shorey. Ashish Vidhyarthi is sadly wasted in an inconsequential role.

What Doesnt: Too many unnecessary sub plots cause the story to deviate from the primary storyline. These have no relevance to the story and look as if they have been added as fillers to increase the length of the episodes.

The Story doesnt reach a conclusion (a la Samantaar or the Raikar Case), perhaps to pave the way for the next season. Not ending the story after 8 episodes is criminal indeed.

Whether to watch or not: I liked it for the innovative thinking on th part of the makers, quirky storyline & smartly introducing genuine laughter invoking moments in a story of a truely dark nature.

Could have been better though. Watch it if you like something thoda hatke !!

While watching Sunflower, I was reminded of Ghanchakkar, the closest Indian cinema has come to the dark comedy genre. My expectations were low, because I had a no so good image of Grover, but high because of Ranvir Shorey. And I wasn't let down. In fact the show was pleasantly and surprisingly funny and thrilling. Thebody in the lift took me back to Satish Shah in JBDY while the twists in the plot were like Burn After Reading. I loved the series.

Eagerly waiting for season 2. Hope there is one!

Sunflower is a comic murder mystery web series laced with huge amounts of black comedy and sarcasm, delivered to us by some fantastically written characters. I wonder why many critics in the leading news channels expected the show to be a typical crime noir and a serious murder mystery and misread the intent of the series. I believe the purpose of this series is tickle the viewer's funny bones and it does a wonderful job in that. Full credit to writer & director Vikas Bahl for taking us on a hilarious joyride, Sunflower looks like a grown up version of his 2011 hit Chillar Party. The web series has some of the most intriguing set of characters, that I have seen together in a desi web series since Sacred Games. Sunflower is just a lighthearted take on our society in general, while tickling our funny bones in bargain.

Cinematography is simple and neat sans unnecessary flamboyance. Screenplay remains the top draw of sunflower, that entertains us every five minutes with some exiting situations. Yes, the series is a tad slow at times but rises up remarkably well enough quickly. Production design, costumes and makeup are par, if one considers the production budget. Editing has its fair share of glaring errors, filled within a runtime of 308 minutes across 8 episodes. Sunflower's back ground score was just O u t s t a n d i n g. A well known star cast does deliver some very nice performances adding the overall humour quotient many notches up. Mukul Chaddha and Ranvir Shorey put up remarkable performances ably supported by Sunil Grover in the lead.

Overall, though after 308 minutes, the season ends in a cliffhanger, with no acceptable end. The entire journey towards end was totally one hilarious joyride so it wasn't a big deal breaker for me. I would recommend the show to people who love comedies and highly recommended the show to people who love black comedies. Though Sunflower is a bit asymmetrical and is constantly distracting and even sub-standard at times, You will not regret sitting this one out. 6.7 stars out of 10 for some outrageously written hilarious scenes and quirky characters in the mix.

Most Indian web series creators are guilty of making the most fatal mistake of telling a good story in a season based show format by choosing to have a cliffhanger at the end of the first season. Although there's no harm in placing a harmless bait for keeping viewers hooked for the next season, keeping all plot threads unresolved in the first season really ruins the experience for the audience and the whole exercise feels like a total wastage of time. When a show can't even give conclusions to minor subplots, how can the audience trust the creators to tie every loose end in the subsequent season?

My message to the people behind the show: You have completely wasted the hard work of really talented actors by making the first season an inconclusive one. Learn a thing or two from TVF.

The Story's plot is good and it was good to see Sunil Grover in such a role. He definitely shines well amongst the fine actors like Ranvir Shorey and Girish Kulkarni. The series builds up a nice suspense but ended up very blunt without a good conclusion, although the overall script and plot is good. Overall a good watch but the viewers will have to wait for the next season for a good conclusion. Let's hope the makers will impress with a good and sensible ending in the next season.

Couldn't stand more than 3 episodes. What is it? What is it being praised for?

It would be a good movie.. But it's series and so boring and unusual comedy.. We never argue with police but you can see how foolish some actors on it.

This show after 2 episodes ..you want to end it asap ..baseless sub plots ..some characters are not all required ..why would you drag it so much that you start hating .. I wonder who are those people Rating it 10 are misleading ..honestly I feel for the lovely cast which is wasted ..some things there is no Logic ..the only think good about sunflower is the trailer.

I am just so much in love with this web series it's just so god damn funny, each and every character have acted very well and played their part very good credits to the director. Sunil grover is just a gem man and underrated talent of Bollywood.

Watch it for the comedy and characters this show is having you will fell in love with the actors.

I have seen many negative reviews and all i can say is its because of them and their taste that we have to endure idiot khans and their nonsense movies.

This show deserves credits and encouragement. This had everything, drama, dark humour, comedy and all of them were done effortlessly by few great actors. Everyone has done tremendous job even if their role was small. Few people are complaining about climax, guys that's how season ends and make way for next season. If you like masala action thriller , then this show is not for you. Watch it if you appreciate great acting, dark humour, thrill, drama. That's how good shows are made.

Story: A murder has occurred in a society named sunflower. We are shown the killer's, so now it's laid back hilarious ride of comic events occurring one after the other.

Cinematography: Justified. A society built in an urban space, offices nearby along with the environment. Direction & acting: Direction is above average. The murdering couple were quite peculiarly aced. Other than that Sunil glistened followed by others.

Final Verdict: The slang with the comic nature mostly made my mood. There was crush factor, factor of relationship, factor that included foul mouthed ill old man and the list goes on...

The movie contained everything the trailer promised. If you have patience to not try to finish the series in couple of hours unlike me you will enjoy it even more.

The complaint that I have with other TV-series appeared here as well. Why not concluding everything in a given single season. If a point gets deducted for it. A point is earned for showing such personal nature of Sales Manager played by Sunil.

This series is slower than the slowest slow. Some times it just meander along pointlessly. Had to fast forward and skip like 25-30% part which made no sense at all. But the remaining part is intresting and good. There is no suspense and viewers know right from the first episode who is the culprit. But its not a whodunit so its fine. Ending is ambiguous and without any conclusion which is frustrating because series felt like a long long watch (because its too slow). In summary 1 hr plot is stretched to 5 hours.

Sunil and Kulkarni are just awesome. Some details are so well captured. Sunil has come out like a superstar with such amazing screen presence.

I have never taken pain to write a review, usually when I don't like anything I just give a bad rating. But this series was exceptionally bad and I had to take pain to write this review.

Directionless screenplay, unnecessary abuses and waste of time. I don't understand how could someone make such a senseless story.

Only the trailer was worth watching and deceptive, this series doesn't deserve your time.

Eagerly waiting for season 2. Was expecting the last episode to be bit more lengthy, anyways Superb cast, Superb acting..

#sunflower (2021) Sunflower has good concept for crime thriller series and cast but lacks focus on plot. They have added comedy but only a few scenes work also lot of unwanted scenes were not needed. The show could be much better as it had lot of potential but it ended up being average.

Just can't imagine what was vikas bahl thinking while writing the screenplay. Started on a good note soon becomes unengaging and pointless.
