In August 1942 US Marines storm ashore on the Japanese-held island of Guadalcanal. After a series of defeats and withdrawals, this is the first time the Allies have gone on the offensive against the Japanese. The six-month campaign that follows is brutal and becomes etched in Marine legend.

A very interesting documentary, detailing the Guadalcanal campaign. Shows well just how tough an assignment it was for the Marines, so close run a thing it was and how easily it could have been a US defeat. Also shows the cost the Marines paid.

Well narrated with relevant, insightful interviews and decent graphics and archival footage.
