Superhero movies have ebbed and flowed in terms of popularity since Christopher Reeve first took flight in 1978’s “Superman.” But if there’s a character that will always be welcome by the filmgoing public, it’s Batman. Since Tim Burton brought the iconic DC comics character into the modern blockbuster age with his 1989 take on Gotham City, the Caped Crusader and his gallery of iconic rogues — from the devilish Joker to the seductive Catwoman — have been constant fixtures of cineplexes everywhere. Every film starring the character seems destined to do decent (if not exceptional) business: “Batman & Robin,” considered a financial disappointment that briefly killed the franchise off, still made over $200 million.
It’s not a surprise that Batman is the hero we most love to see on our movie screens. He’s both one of the most relatable superheroes of them all and the one most unlike ourselves: an...

Brandon Micheal Hall, Bobby Moynihan, Chris Parnell and Patrick Noth star in Micro Budget, which centers on clueless father-to-be Terry (Noth), who moves with his pregnant wife to Los Angeles to shoot a low-budget disaster movie that he aims to sell to a streaming service for a big profit.
Rounding out the cast are Maria Bamford, Mike Mitchell, Neil Casey, Emilea Wilson, Nichole Sakura, Jordan Rock, Jon Gabrus and Hal Linden.

It's a good time to be a Batman fan. The past couple of years has seen the Dark Knight reinvented in unique ways. There was "The Batman" live-action movie, which gave us arguably the funniest and weirdest live-action Bruce Wayne to date, while the "Merry Little Batman" animated movie introduced us to a hilarious and heartwarming Bat-Dad who literally stopped all crime in Gotham in a single day because he wanted his son to grow up safe.
However, it's the return of Bruce Timm to the DC animated universe that is possibly the most exciting news for fans of the character in years. After all, Timm already gave us the single best portrayal of the Dark Knight in "Batman: The Animated Series." Now, he's back with a new animated series, and he's teaming up with J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves to do it.

The first teaser poster for Prime Video's Batman: Caped Crusader has been released today (via Toonado.com) and it features the show's Dark Knight keeping a watchful eye over 1940s Gotham City.
It's a striking piece of imagery and that's fitting for a take on Batman which draws inspiration from the hero's earliest comic book adventures. With any luck, this means we're getting a teaser trailer sooner rather than later as the long-delayed show's August premiere is fast approaching.
Original plans called for Batman: Caped Crusader to premiere on Max, but a series of cost-cutting measures by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav saw it offloaded - along with a handful of other animated projects, including Merry Little Batman - to Amazon.

Exclusive: Micro Budget is a comedy feature about an aspiring director who recklessly moves himself and his nine-months-pregnant actress wife from Iowa to LA to shoot a low-budget indie movie and sell it to a streamer for a “fuck-ton of money”. Sound familiar?
Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan and Chris Parnell and Lady Dynamite’s Maria Bamford star in the film, which is the debut feature from Morgan Evans, who wrote animated feature Merry Little Batman for Amazon/MGM.
Newcomers Emilea Wilson (Alternatino With Arturo Castro) and Patrick Noth (The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show) also star.
The film centers on Terry Terrison (Noth), who plays the director, Documented by his cousin Devin’s (Evans) behind-the-scenes camera crew, Terry finds that the only thing standing between himself and his dream is, well, himself. The mockumentary skewers the world of show-business and the depths some maniacal auteurs will sink to in pursuit of their vision.

J.G. Quintel’s new “Regular Show” and Craig McCracken’s “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends” spin-off both feature in a new production slate from Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.
Unveiled Wednesday at Annecy to an appreciative crowd at Annecy’s MIFA market, which greeted multiple shows with whoops of enthusiasm, the two new announcements join a new “Adventure Time” series, “Side Quests,” as greenlights at the Warner-owned companies.
The new slate also boasts two more “Adventure Time” shows in development, plus an unannounced Scooby-Doo project.
The big question raised by the studio’s Annecy focus is whether the surge in new shows is a temporary anomaly or marks a broader indicator of a more sustained return by Warner Bros. Discovery to fuller-on animation production after the lull of the recent past.
Certainly, news will not come much bigger at this year’s Annecy than “Adventure Time,...

The Oscar-frontrunning Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” was the big winner at Asifa-Hollywood’s 51st Annie Awards (held February 17 at UCLA’s Royce Hall), grabbing seven awards, topped by best animated feature. As a 66 percent Oscar predictor, the Annie win bodes well for Sony and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Channing Dungey first joined Warner Bros. TV Group as chairman in late 2020 — right in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, which made for an interesting first year on the job. Then came the Warner Media-Discovery merger in 2022, and the restructuring that came with it. In 2023, the Hollywood strikes disrupted the business again.
“It’s been a lot of tumult since I’ve been in the role,” Dungey recently reflected to Variety. “I’m hoping — and I’m knocking wood as I say this — that as we round the corner into 2024, we’re behind some of those bigger challenges. I’m sure there will be something new on the horizon, but I’m hopeful that 2024 marks a return to business as usual.”
The entertainment industry remains in flux, of course, with more disruption anticipated this year. But in her own corner of the biz, Dungey said she feels some truly positive momentum.

Casting turnover is the name of the game when it comes to the Law & Order franchise. Through 23 seasons of the flagship series (and not even to mention the many spinoffs), Law & Order has cycled through dozens of casting combinations in filling out both the “law” and “order” halves of its ensemble.
When Law & Order returned for season 21 in 2022 after a lengthy hiatus, it looked like it had a solid detective duo in place with Anthony Anderson’s Kevin Bernard and Jeffrey Donovan’s Frank Cosgrove. Now, just two years later both actors are gone. Anderson departed after season 21 and Donovan after season 22.
Law & Order season 23 pairs Mehcad Brooks’ Jalen Shaw (who replaced Anderson) with newbie Vincent Riley, played by recognizable face Reid Scott. If you’re wondering who Reid Scott is and what makes him a good fit for this crime drama, don’t worry – we’ve got the answers.

[This interview contains major spoilers for Merry Little Batman.]
DC Studios’ Merry Little Batman sees Bruce Wayne in an unusual turn: donning his dad hat during the holidays.
The Warner Bros. Animation film follows the relationship of Bruce and his son, Damian, an 8-year-old desperate to be just like his crime-fighting father. The only problem — beyond him being a literal child — is that crime no longer exists in Gotham. Batman decided to clean up the streets for good to give Damian a shot at the safe, crime-free childhood Bruce didn’t have.
But when his overprotective father is called to save the day in Nova Scotia on Christmas Eve and becomes stranded in a trap laid by Mr. Freeze, Damian is left home alone with no one to help him as two criminals break in. The hapless burglars manage to make off with his newly gifted utility belt, leading Damian on a chase through Gotham’s...

Films are available. Then they aren't. Entire film series can be accessed on one day, and then are nowhere to be found the next. The tides roll in, the tides recede. The sun rises, the sun sets. So it goes with streaming.
Thanks to the Writers Strike of 2023, and the revelation that exclusive in-studio streaming services aren't an entirely viable business model, it's become more important than ever to keep tabs on what might be available on notable services in any given week. Sadly, no streaming service purports to be a permanent archive of film and TV, and even the most deeply branded properties are now being shopped around outside of their home studios; to some, it may feel strange that "Merry Little Batman" debuted on Prime Video rather than the expected Warner Bros.-owned Max streaming service. Merry Little Batman Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Yonas Kibreab, Luke Wilson, James Cromwell, and David Hornsby
Director: Mike Roth
Merry Little Batman Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
What’s Good: The movie feels like a fresh offering for both the Christmas movie and superhero genres.
What’s Bad: While the characters are fun, they don’t have much of the characteristics that make Batman and Robin household names.
Loo Break: The film clocks around 90 minutes, but there could be a couple of places that feel redundant.
Watch or Not?: This is a good choice for Batman fans to watch during this holiday season, even if this Batman might feel a bit unfamiliar.

I quite enjoyed Amazon Prime Video’s “Merry Little Batman.” Young kids will enjoy the frenetic action while grown-ups will lol at the well-timed jokes. Luke Wilson, who plays the Stargirl’s dad in “DC’s Stargirl,” is our caped crusader here, he’s now a dad, taking care of his son Damin (Yonas Kibreab). Batman has gotten rid

"Merry Little Batman" is the latest Warner Bros. Animation movie, part of the wave of DC animated titles that Warner Bros. Discovery stupidly gave away under David Zaslav's regime.
The film follows Damian Wayne as he is forced to defend his home, and eventually all of Gotham, from supervillains while Batman is away one Christmas Eve. It is part Batman movie, part "Home Alone," part "The Grinch", and full Caped Crusader bliss. "Merry Little Batman" features a distinct and unique visual style that is reminiscent of Tim Burton's animated productions, with director Mike Roth ("Regular Show") giving the film an illustrative look inspired by Ronald Searle.
Arguably, the standout element is, well, Batman. Though the focus is definitely on Damian's story, this is a Batman unlike any we've seen in TV or film. This is a Batman without the growl. Instead, this Batman is a goof.

Viewers of Merry Little Batman meet Damian Wayne as the lovable scamp who chases his cat Selina through the halls of stately Wayne Manor, decked in a blanket for a cape and a brown paper bag for a cowl, just like his dear old dad, Batman. The delightful holiday special imagines Damian as a good-hearted soul who wants nothing more than to be like his pop, and doesn’t even get too upset at his father’s overprotective demands. When the Joker returns to Gotham while Batman is trapped in the Arctic, Damian gets his chance to prove that he deserves to be called “Son of the Bat.”
But comic book readers first met Damian under very different circumstances. In a 1987 graphic novel by Mike W. Barr and Jerry Bingham, Batman reluctantly joins forces with eco-terrorist Ra’s al Ghul to take down the assassin Quain. During the alliance, Batman...

I love it when a Batman-centric project arrives animated and has a stylized design. Such is the case with Warner Bros. Animation’s family holiday movie Merry Little Batman, which takes the Caped Crusader and his son Damian Wayne and gives them an illustrative, Ron Searle-inspired coat of paint.
As if Prime Video hasn’t cornered the market enough regarding stellar superhero content, their acquisition of Merry Little Batman, along with a ton of other Batman-related projects, including the Bruce Timm/Matt Reeves/J.J. Abrams animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, from Warner Bros. Discovery, adds just a bit of power to the streamer’s greatness. One Zaslav’s trash is another studio’s treasure. The funniest part is that this is the best DC movie Warner Bros. didn’t even distribute this year. Ain’t that a killer joke?

Here’s a new streaming flick that’s perfect for the season and answers a question that’s probably on the minds of many youngsters: do my favorite superheroes get to celebrate the holiday? I mean do the ‘super-baddies” give them a day off? Those queries have been explored in many animated TV shows and in the comic book source materials (the rival comics companies would usually publish a “Christmas with the Superheroes” annual special edition). So a feature-length “jolly romp” is well overdue. So, will Christmas Eve lighten up the Dark Knight? Especially if there’s a junior caped crusader in the mix (and we’re not talking about the “boy wonder”). Hey, who’s that swinging over the roofs of Gotham City? It’s none other than a Merry Little Batman.

It's time to dive into the cast of actors and the characters they play in Amazon Prime Video's newest animated Batman movie, titled Merry Little Batman.
Abandoned by Max, Amazon Prime Video jumped in to host this animated movie, with Warner Bros. Animation chief Sam Register sharing the company's excitement to "partner with Amazon to begin an all-new animated chapter of Batman."
Directed by Mike Roth and written by Morgan Evans, this new story will exist outside of the DC Universe continuity built by Warner Bros., utilizing the Dark Knight's lore for a comedic Christmas-themed story under Prime Video's purview.

This Weekend’s What To Watch List Is A Cinematic Mix of Laughter, Thrills, and Festive Surprises(Photo Credit –IMDb)
In this week’s cinematic lineup, viewers can anticipate a diverse range of releases, from the festive cheer of “Merry Little Batman” to the suspenseful drama of “Leave the World Behind” and the heart-stopping, horror-inducing narrative of “Thanksgiving.” However, it’s worth noting a somewhat unexpected scarcity of Christmas-focused movies in this listicle. Despite the historical trend of feel-good holiday films during this season, the current offerings showcase an intriguing mix of genres, encompassing not only Christmas tales but also comedy, action, thriller, and horror. The cinematic choices are indeed varied, ensuring a plethora of options for audiences seeking entertainment beyond the traditional yuletide fare.
Whether you’re in the mood for laughter, adrenaline-pumping action, spine-chilling thrills, or heartwarming moments, this listicle unveils a cinematic smorgasbord that goes beyond the anticipated Christmas movie lineup.

Fatherhood apparently has a way of slowing you down. Take Batman, for instance. He’s clearly not at his fittest in this new Amazon Prime animated film, in which he looks more like a burly lumberjack than a superhero, wearing dad jeans, a flannel shirt and a heavy beard. Fortunately, he’s not the hero tasked with saving Gotham City yet again in the Yuletide-set Merry Little Batman. That would be Damian, his eight-year-old son, who clearly takes after his old man when it comes to fighting supervillains.
Damian (voiced by Yonas Kibreab) displays the typical energy of a pre-adolescent, chasing his cat around the expansive confines of Wayne Manor as if they were in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. His father Bruce (Luke Wilson) is essentially retired, having gotten rid of all crime in Gotham City. But he’s still on call, meaning that when he gets a message...

There’ll be some happy holidays on Prime Video in December, as the streamer’s seasonal offerings hope to keep the fires warm in your home this month!
As such, there are quite a few new original holiday movies coming to the service. At the beginning of the month, Eddie Murphy stars in Candy Cane Lane. In this film, the Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America star plays a determined man who is willing to go above and beyond to win the annual Christmas home decoration contest in his neighborhood – even if it means making a very magical deal.
The DC universe will also be getting festive in December thanks to Merry Little Batman, an animated feature that sees Batman’s son, Damian Wayne, stumble upon a villainous plot on Christmas eve, one that may give him a chance to save the day when his dad isn’t around.

Just like the Winslow family on Family Matters, whenever you think you’re clear of Steven Q. Urkel, he’ll burst right through the door and back into our lives. Warner Bros. Animation has released the trailer for an all-new animated holiday adventure that continues the adventures of one of the biggest sensations of the 90s with Urkel Saves Santa: The Movie! While legacy sequels dominate pop culture in an effort to recapture the magic of certain IP, for someone like Steve Urkel, who is immortalized as a nerdy teenager, to bring him back in an animated project helps cover a lot of logistical hurdles. The trailer has been released, courtesy of ComicBook.com.
The synopsis reads,

Pocket monsters go on a relaxing holiday in the charming-looking Pokémon Concierge, a stop-motion animated series coming to Netflix. Here’s a trailer and more details:

Christmas is coming — and getting here before you know it. And while it's not perhaps the safest place to go out Christmas shopping or caroling, Gotham City celebrates just like anywhere else. Get ready for a fresh twist on the Batman universe this holiday season with “Merry Little Batman.” This new animated special, set to stream on Prime Video starting December 8, promises a unique blend of superhero action and Christmas cheer.
The story revolves around young Damian Wayne, voiced by Yonas Kibreab. Unlike his typical portrayal as Robin, Damian steps into the shoes of “Little Batman” to protect Gotham City on Christmas Eve. With his father, Bruce Wayne (Luke Wilson), and Alfred Pennyworth (James Cromwell) by his side, this isn’t your ordinary holiday tale.
Director and producer Mike Roth brings a new perspective to the Batman narrative. He explains that focusing on a younger Damian offers a fresh and heartwarming take on the well-known characters. This version of Damian is more innocent and wide-eyed, perfectly capturing the magic of Christmas through a child’s eyes.
The villains are just as integral to the story.

‘Tis the season to be Batman. Prime Video has just unveiled the new trailer for the animated family holiday comedy Merry Little Batman. The new Christmas-centric Batman movie sports an abstract animation style and breaks the fourth wall in many instances to make references to the various incarnations of previous Batmans. The movie resembles The Lego Batman Movie with a satirical edge. Luke Wilson provides the voice for The Dark Knight, and Yonas Kibreab portrays the spunky little Damian Wayne, who will take up the mantle, and David Hornsby of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, lends his voice for this movie’s Joker.
The synopsis from Prime Video reads,
“This Christmas, Damian Wayne wants to be a superhero like his dad—the one and only Batman. When Damian is left home alone while Batman takes on Gotham’s worst supervillains on Christmas Eve, he stumbles upon a villainous plot to...

Sliding down the chimney and onto your Amazon Prime account before Christmas, Merry Little Batman focuses on Damian Wayne (voiced by Jonas Kibreab) defending Wayne Manor from some of Gotham City’s most despicable villains on Christmas Eve – Home Alone-style!
“Because it’s a Christmas story, telling it through the eyes of a child seemed apropos,” the film’s director and producer, Mike Roth (Regular Show), tells EW. “Typically, Damian is a teenager who struggles with good and evil. While this was an interesting idea that was initially explored, we landed on a younger Damian. We decided to turn the clock back...
