Painful journey into the heart of German darkness

The German director Lars KRAUME has made a haunting film about the genocide of the Herero and the Nama. Bitterly evil, profound and difficult to bear, it delves into the origins of the horrors that came from German soil in the 20th century. On the first weekend, the film unfortunately only attracted 18,262 visitors (source: Blickpunkt:Film) to the cinemas. What a shame! But you also have to say that what is shown is difficult to bear. And yet this very well-made film should be seen in the cinema by as many people as possible.

Nothing will be revealed about the plot at this point; the novel MORENGA by Uwe TIMM, published in 1978, is recommended on this topic.

The actors Girley Charlene JAZAMA and Anton PAULUS, who can also be heard on Otjiherero, deserve special mention. Leonard SCHEICHER and Peter SIMONISCHEK also play in roles. Alexander RADSZUN (DER ZAUBERBERG / THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN) is also very scary as General von Trotha.

This film is highly recommended, but it is truly a journey into the heart of German darkness. Not everyone can endure that, even if you shouldn't forego this hellish journey!
