The film goes into production this month with principal photography commencing in Damariscotta, Maine before moving to New York City in February.

The Wheel of Time is leaping to feature film terrain with a trilogy of films exploring the origins of Robert Jordan’s bestselling book series. Getting behind the camera for the first chapter is Kari Skogland, who directed Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Solider. Skogland directs the fantasy film from a script by Zack Stentz.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, the first film in The Wheel of Time trilogy is “set several millennia before the timeline of the books; the Age of Legends will chart the emergence of “the Dark One.” when the world descended into darkness and war. The film will delve into the corrosive nature of power and pride, as seen through the tragic tales of the Forsaken – once honored leaders who fell victim to the Dark One’s seduction, each personifying distinct elements of human weakness and ambition. “The Gilded Age,” Julian Fellowes’ critically lauded follow-up to “Downton Abbey,” has returned for a second season on HBO. Although “The Gilded Age” slightly alters the formula that made “Downton Abbey” so popular, swapping out turn-of-the-century England for a rapidly developing America in the late 1800s, it takes place just a few decades before its predecessor. Does that just reflect Fellowes’ fascination with a particular period? Or should we take it as a sign from a master of the genre that this is the ideal setting for a period piece TV show?
Inspired by “The Gilded Age” Season 2, we took a look at Ranker’s list of the 101 Best Period Piece TV Shows (24K votes) to see if readers’ favorite period dramas and comedies happen to center around one period in particular. Ben Whishaw could propel a charming, British short film to Oscars glory with his star turn in Tom Stuart’s “Good Boy.” The film follows Whishaw — best known for his BAFTA-winning performance in “This is Going to Hurt,” his Emmy-winning turn in “A Very English Scandal,” and his role as Q in multiple James Bond movies — as down-on-his-luck Danny.
Danny attempts to rob a bank with the help of his chaotic mum, played by SAG-winning actress Marion Bailey, but he runs into trouble when memories of a tragic past begin to literally haunt him. As he tries to escape this past, a hopeful future arrives in the form of a potential suitor in a shop.

Marlowe is a movie directed by Neil Jordan starirng Liam Neeson. With Diane Kruger and Jessica Lange. It is based on a novel by John Banville.
Marlowe is one of those films that probably shouldn’t have been made, and let me explain why: the main character has all the connotations of a classic that has reached a “sacrosanct” status and is probably the one of the most untouchable characters in the history of cinema, then played by the greatest star in the zenith of the golden age the seventh art – Humphrey Bogart.
About the Movie
Whether it was well-made, brilliant, or even if Orson Welles had directed it, I would have reason to be a bit reticent with this film. And, indeed I am, for the obvious reason that it dares revisit an untouchable classic.

Nearly a year has gone by since Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the showrunners of the Showtime series Yellowjackets, told Variety that they were calling season 2 of the series “The Winter of Their Discontent.” Yellowjackets season 2 is now set to begin airing on March 26th, and a poster has arrived online to offer a preview of this crazy winter. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
Christina Ricci and Juliette Lewis star in Yellowjackets, which is is described as “equal parts survival epic, horror story, and coming-of-age drama.” The story centers on a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. The series will chronicle their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later,...

Paul Mescal was undoubtedly the star attraction on the opening night of the Dublin International Film Festival on Thursday.
The local boy — almost, he’s from Maynooth, 24 kilometers to the west of the Irish capital — marked his first appearance at the event for the curtain-raising Irish psychological drama God’s Creatures, in which he stars alongside Emily Watson. But he also hit the red carpet at Dublin’s Light House Cinema not just as a freshly minted Oscar and BAFTA nominee for Aftersun and one of the most in-demand actors around (Ridley Scott recently tapped him for his Gladiator sequel), but as someone who, the last time the festival was held as a fully in-person event without pandemic restrictions in February 2020, literally hadn’t even been seen onscreen yet. His breakout, Normal People, was released just a few months later.

If you cast your mind back to 2013, you might recall that Steven Spielberg was looking to bring another of Stanley Kubrick's unmade projects to screens following his work on A.I.. In this case, it was the deceased filmmaker's passion project Napoleon. Spielberg was envisioning a miniseries for HBO rather than a movie, and it appears that it's finally moving forward.
Napoleon is quite possibly the most famous unfinished film in Kubrick’s archive. He wrote the script in 1961 after ploughing months into research and gathering thousands upon thousands of location photos, slides and pages of notes about the idea.
But MGM and United Artists, which were to have produced the eventual film, refused due to the high cost and fears that big period war epics failed to make their budgets back. Kubrick held on to the idea, writing further drafts, but never managed to get it made. Alison Castle...

One of Stanley Kubrick’s lost projects, a large-scale biopic of Napoleon Bonaparte, has been in the works for HBO for the last seven years.
Steven Spielberg, who has been involved for at least ten years, now says he is “mounting a big production” and the project will become a seven-part series for the premium cable network.
It’s not clear whether the project is still in the development stages or has a series order.
Speaking at the Berlin Film Festival, The Fabelmans director said, “With the co-operation of Christiane Kubrick and Jan Harlan, we’re mounting a large production for HBO on based on Stanley’s original script Napoloeon. We are working on Napoleon as a seven-part limited series,” he said.

Religion, whichever it may be, plays a significant role in many people's lives worldwide.
Not many shows out there dive into it without any reservations, but since it is a part of many societies, it is unavoidable altogether.

These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

There are thousands of shows and movies to watch on Netflix, but they don't all stick around forever. This is just one of those sad facts of life, made even sadder when the disappearance of a particular title takes you by surprise. If you're making your way through a TV show by watching one or two episodes a week, it's good to know ahead of time if the show will disappear from the streaming service's catalog, so at least you'll have the option of picking up the pace.
Even if you prefer films to TV shows, it's nice to be reminded of your options before said options are taken away. From superhero blockbusters to intimate period dramas and everything in between, there are some real gems leaving Netflix this month. If you've been meaning to get around to any of these titles below, take advantage of the time they've got left.

Addams Family Values, The Borgias and the last two Rambo movies are among the high-profile titles set to leave Netflix later this month.
The 1993 Paramount movie sequel Addams Family Values departs the streamer on Jan. 31 as Netflix’s latest take on the Addams Family, the Jenna Ortega-starring hit series Wednesday, was recently renewed for a second season.
Showtime’s historical drama, The Borgias, which ran for three seasons, from 2011-2013, and starred Jeremy Irons as Pope Alexander VI, will also exit Netflix at the end of the month.
Even before these titles vanish, Netflix is losing Peter Bogdanovich’s star-studded screwball romance She’s Funny That Way. The film starring Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, Rhys Ifans, Will Forte and Kathryn Hahn, among others, will leave Netflix on Jan. 29.
And Rambo completists will have to do without the two most recent installments in the franchise, Rambo and Rambo: Last Blood,...

Shooting on Netflix’s “The Decameron” has kicked off at Rome’s Cinecittà Studios, where the lavish period soap will be based for the next six months.
The U.S. show, which is being made entirely in Italy, marks one of the biggest international productions lured by the storied studios in recent years.
Hailing from executive producer Jenji Kohan and creator/showrunner Kathleen Jordan (“Teenage Bounty Hunters”), the eight-episode drama takes place in 1348, as the Black Death pandemic strikes hard in the city of Florence. A handful of nobles are invited to retreat with their servants to a grand villa in the Italian countryside and wait out the pestilence with a lavish holiday. But as social rules wear thin, what starts as a wine-soaked sex romp in the hills of Tuscany descends into an all out scramble for survival.
Michael Uppendahl (“Mad Men”) is directing four of the eight episodes,...

We're still a few months away from the premiere of season 2 of the hit series "Yellowjackets," but there's still plenty to be excited about. Christina Ricci, who stars as the adult version of the criminally (and possibly) insane Misty Quigley, has already said the season will be even more shocking than the first. It's a big claim, especially when you consider the first season was an introduction to a high school soccer team who may or may not have eaten one another in acts of ritualistic sacrifice.
In addition to Ricci, "Yellowjackets" boasts an incredible leading cast including Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey, Oscar and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis, and "Unforgettable" star Tawny Cypress.
It was previously announced that Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell ("Obi-Wan Kenobi") had joined the show as series regulars, in addition to Elijah Wood (He's Elijah Wood) in a guest arc as one of the Citizen Detectives,...

They join Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey, Oscar and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis, Emmy nominee Christina Ricci and Tawny Cypress. Sondaya has been tapped to step into the role of Teen Akilah in a recasting, with Keeya King exiting the series.
Sondaya has also been featured in recurring roles on “Bel Air,” “Truth Be Told,” and has also starred as a lead in the short film “Heart Shot.” She is repped by Unified Management and Greene & Associates Talent Agency.
