In an Interview with Ben Bonenfant for the DVD Extra Features, he refers to his character ('The Hustler') several times by the name Adam. The character remains anonymous in the film, changing his name for different clients.
On the DVD Extra Features Ben Bonenfant comfirms that the character of 'The Hustler' is gay, but that he himself is not.
