Year, 1938, Barcelona. In the Spanish Civil War, a group of survivors escape from strange shadows at Refuge 115, while the German-Italian aviation is bombing the city of Barcelona.
I love how Spanish films have a 1930s preference, as the Spanish Civil War is a fascinating time period and I wish more Americans knew about it. Guillermo Del Toro shown a light on the war with "Pan's Labyrinth" to some extent, and it is great to see this done again.
The concept of a darkness taking over may not be new, but it is probably under-utilized and rarely done with such style and finesse as it was here. This is a must-see and truly a great little film.
