Chris Redd "Why Am I Like This" comedy special is a very loosely structured riff on mental health issues, failed and backup dreams, and the right kind of petty relationships that makes good relationships.
As a special, it's less put together than I'd like, as it left me hanging on the mental health front which titles the special. Redd talks of his anxiety, adhd and depression, then doesn't weave a punchline that really makes the title "Why Am I Like This" come clear.
However, Redd is genuine about what he talks about, his upbringing, and maybe some episodes that kind of flow into making him into the person he is today. It's an adjacent topic, but he does end on a strong note about that one, talking about his gangster cousin that put him through the ringer but apologizes in the end. Closure. It's a closing, and it works, and for that I give this special higher marks. 7/10.
