Daniel Craig is mostly known among the fans for being the highest-paid James Bond actor. Besides that, the Munich actor also contributed significantly to modernizing the classic whodunit thriller genre with his Knives Out film series. The first Knives Out film, released in 2019 was a huge commercial and critical hit. However, on the release of its sequel Glass Onion by Netflix, both Craig and director Rian Johnson were highly disappointed.

Following Knives Out‘s success, when Rian Johnson planned to make a sequel with the character Benoit Blanc, Netflix outbid everyone to acquire the rights to multiple sequels for a mind-boggling $469 Million. Unfortunately, this deal killed the possibility for the sequel to get a wide theatrical release.

The longest time frame between James Bond movie releases was six years, with the mark being hit twice: first between Timothy Dalton’s final outing, 1989’s License to Kill, and Pierce Brosnan’s debut, 1995’s GoldenEye; the most recent came between 2015’s Spectre and 2021’s No Time to Die. It has now been three years since that Daniel Craig farewell hit the screen…but will it be another three? According to one key figure at Amazon (who acquired MGM in 2022), patience is still key.
Speaking with The Guardian, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said, “The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point.” That comment seems to sit somewhere in the middle. Are the studios not concerned because they have a specific vision for the future? Or because they feel like they’re on track for...

Sam Mendes and Christopher Nolan, are two directors whose respective visions have transformed the landscape of modern filmmaking. Mendes brought his expertise to the James Bond franchise with 2012’s Skyfall and 2015’s Spectre, while Nolan crafted one of the most iconic superhero trilogies with The Dark Knight, and many renowned sci-fi films.

From ‘Curb’ to ‘The Comeback,’ HBO knows comedy.
Writing a list of the top HBO comedy TV shows of all time is hard because it’s subjective. What I think is funny and what you think is funny is different – and we’re both right (except I’m more right). With new episodes dropping on Sunday nights, “The Franchise” follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie as they showcase the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking. Sam Mendes doubts he will direct another James Bond movie after helming 2012’s Skyfall and 2015’s Spectre.
In HBO’s The Franchise, the filmmaker spoofs the process of making big-budget franchises and, in a new interview, explains why he doesn’t think he’ll direct another James Bond film.
“They don’t want people who have a big track record,” Mendes said in an interview with Inverse. “They want slightly more malleable people who are earlier in their career who perhaps are going to use it as a stepping stone, and who are more controllable by the studio.”
Although Mendes noted to “never say never,” he adds, “but I would doubt it. It was very good for me at that moment in my life. I felt like it shot me out of some old habits. It made me think on a bigger scale. It made me use different parts of my brain.

Sam Mendes may have outgrown the James Bond franchise in more ways than one.
Mendes, who directed 007 films “Skyfall” (2012) and “Spectre” (2015), told Inverse that he probably won’t return to make a third. The key members behind the franchise, like producer Barbara Broccoli and now Amazon MGM Studios, prefer up-and-coming filmmakers who are “more controllable.”
“They want slightly more malleable people who are earlier in their career, who perhaps are going to use it as a stepping stone, and who are more controllable by the studio,” Mendes said.
Mendes hedged on the notion of a third Bond film with the requisite “never say never,” but it sounds like a never.

Bond fever is gripping the globe and all eyes are turned towards the most headline-grabbing aspect of the next installment in the long-running property. What, do you think all the frenzied speculation begins and ends with the newest leading man who'll eventually try on that impeccably-tailored suit? Ha! In my eye, what's just as crucial to the future of this series is the filmmaker who'll take a seat in the director's chair and try to improve on Daniel Craig's widely celebrated run as James Bond. In the three years (and counting) since "No Time to Die" brought that iteration to a very definitive end -- and it doesn't get any more definitive than killing off the title character for the first time in franchise history -- all the most obvious names have been bandied back and forth. While I wouldn't put much stock into the notion of Christopher Nolan...

Sam Mendes directed two James Bond movies, “Skyfall” (2012) and “Spectre” (2015), and he doubts he’ll return to the 007 franchise to helm a third entry. Speaking to Inverse to promote his new HBO series “The Franchise,” Mendes said the studio often needs a director who is younger and thus more “controllable.” That’s no longer him.
“Never say never, to quote the man, but I would doubt it,” Mendes said about directing a third “Bond” movie. “It was very good for me at that moment in my life. I felt like it shot me out of some old habits. It made me think on a bigger scale. It made me use different parts of my brain. You have to have a lot of energy.”

The name’s Mendes, Sam Mendes. The Bond franchise has been ongoing for more than 60 years and 25 films, so it’s no surprise that there have been many repeat directors. But Sam Mendes was the first to helm multiple Bond films since the ‘80s (an era ruled by John Glen), guiding Daniel Craig through the 2010s. After Skyfall and Spectre, the torch was passed to Cary Joji Fukunaga. So will Sam Mendes go the Terence Young route, sitting one installment out and returning with thunder? Never say never…but probably not.
Speaking with Inverse, Sam Mendes credited the Bond films with coming at a crucial time in his career but doesn’t see it as a guarantee for his future. “Never say never, to quote the man, but I would doubt it. It was very good for me at that moment in my life. I felt like it shot me out of some old habits.

After Jonathan Bailey had a brief cameo in “Heartstopper” Season 3, creator Alice Oseman is open to more guest appearances in potential future seasons, with Andrew Scott coming to mind.
“I love Andrew Scott,” Oseman told TheWrap. “I think he’s such an established queer actor … he would be an incredible addition to the show. Maybe he can be another teacher or something like that, I don’t know, but that would be cool.”
Best known for his roles in “Fleabag,” “Ripley” and “Spectre,” Scott recently starred in “All of Us Strangers” as a lonely screenwriter named Adam, who develops an intimate relationship with his mysterious neighbor (Paul Mescal) as he revisits his past memories.
Bailey’s cameo in “Heartstopper” Season 3 came about after the “Bridgerton” star reached out and expressed his interest in joining the Netflix coming-of-age series. Oseman said they “haven’t had any other actors express interest” in a similar guest star role,...

Rachel Weisz, the stunner, seems to still be holding a potential villainous role in the James Bond saga a possibility. There is a lot of excitement as DC Universe is currently working on a couple of releases to set up the storylines that will be carried in future Justice League adaptations. However, there have been a few changes with characters in the Dcu.
Following the release of Justice League in 2017, Henry Cavill, who previously portrayed the character of Clark Kent/Superman, decided to leave the franchise due to scheduling conflicts. Similarly, Dcu lost Ryan Reynolds from its roster as his Green Lantern movie barely saw any success.

But now, Dcu has been acquiring new actors to take on these roles. One of the franchise’s most recent releases featured Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne’s Batman, who took over after Ben Affleck made his departure. While that was a huge success, Dcu’s newly recruited cast members have drawn slight criticism from fans.

Even though Daniel Craig has been famous for playing quite a few characters following his breakthrough in the entertainment industry through Our Friends in the North, his best role to date still ranks as one of the most iconic iterations of James Bond of all time. But while the part brought him tremendous fame and wealth, it also seriously meddled with his personal life indirectly.

HBO’s The Franchise is Based on True Chaotic Stories About Working at Marvel and DC - Main Image
It feels like every big streaming service needs to have its own superhero property nowadays with Amazon having The Boys, and Disney+ having the whole Marvel Studios lineup. Though The Penguin is technically a comic book series, HBO has also greenlit another show that looks to take on the superhero genre in a different way.
The Franchise is set to premiere later in October, and while it looks like it’s poking fun at the making of superhero and big-budget films, it’s been revealed that a lot of the series is actually based on true stories.
The Franchise is Based on Reality
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, series creator Jon Brown (Succession) delved into how he and fellow co-creators Sam Mendes (1917) and Armanda Iannuci (The Death of Stalin) came up with the show.

Ben Whishaw played James Bond’s technology and weapons expert Q in three 007 movies with Daniel Craig, joining the franchise on a high note in 2012’s acclaimed “Skyfall” and also appearing in 2015’s “Spectre” and 2021’s “No Time to Die.” The latter title marked Craig’s last Bond movie, which has Whishaw predicting that his time as Q is also over.
“I don’t think I’m going to be in the next one,” Whishaw recently told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg about his future in the James Bond film franchise. “I think they’re going to start all over again, and with a new cast, a completely new cast. There’s a situation discussed in HBO’s upcoming series The Franchise — a comedy about the behind-the-scenes struggle to make a superhero movie — that sounds rather absurd: A director laboring away on a fictional Marvel-like film gradually realizes the studio brass has changed their mind about the project’s creative direction and started secretly shooting the “real” movie somewhere else, while he continues to film scenes destined to be scrapped.
Yet this has actually happened to at least one filmmaker working on a franchise movie, according to the show’s producers.
“All the research we did — and we did tons, we spoke to so many people — the actual chaos [on superhero films] was really surprising,” says The Franchise creator Jon Brown (Succession), who made the series along with Armando Iannucci (Veep) and Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (1917). “People think these movies are laid out in neat phases for the next 10 years. Actress Monica Bellucci is currently starring in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a sequel to the 1988 horror-comedy film Beetlejuice. While promoting the film, Bellucci discussed her time in the James Bond franchise, having appeared in 2015’s Spectre, starring Daniel Craig as the iconic British super spy. As a result, Bellucci holds the record of being the oldest actress to be cast in the role of a Bond Girl.

However, Bellucci revealed that she did not think director Sam Mendes wanted her for the part of a Bond Girl. Instead, Bellucci felt she was approached to play an entirely different character altogether. Here is what Bellucci had to say about her connection to the Bond franchise and why she should still return to it in the role she originally thought she was being offered as the franchise moves to a new era.

Box office preview: Will ‘Speak No Evil’ keep ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ from its first place repeat?
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” may have given the fall movie season a serious jumpstart, but it’s not the only September release, as we are about to go into yet another busy weekend. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Scott McNairy, and Aisling Franciosi (“The Last Voyage of the Demeter”) star in Universal Pictures and Blumhouse’s remake of the Danish horror film “Speak No Evil,” which received rave reviews when it premiered at Sundance and ended up streaming on Shudder. Directed by British filmmaker James Watkins (“The Woman in Black”), this remake looks pretty straight-forward with the same premise of a couple traveling to visit another couple they met on holiday, with the biggest difference being that the respective families are now American and British.

While there is still a lot to find out about the next James Bond movie, we do know one thing: Edward Berger, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind All Quiet on the Western Front has been hired to direct. Except, that’s not true at all, and Berger would really like you to stop saying it is.
Speaking with Deadline, Edward Berger made a plea for people and publications to quit saying he will be calling “Action!” for the next installment. “That’s an absolute rumor. There’s no truth to it whatsoever. I would be very grateful if you put out that fire.”
Edward Berger went on to praise the woman behind the James Bond franchise, also acknowledging he has trust that she’ll choose the right director when the time comes. “Barbara Broccoli is a wonderful producer. She will know what to do at the right time, and it’s her family legacy.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is bringing some beloved characters back to fans, but the sequel is also introducing a few fresh faces — relatively speaking, considering they might be dead.
Once again directed by Tim Burton, the sequel takes place 30 years after the original, bringing the Deetz family back together for Charles’ death. At this point, Lydia (Winona Ryder) is fully grown with a daughter of her own, who discovers the mysterious remnants of Beetlejuice left in the attic.
We won’t spoil anything here, but we will give you a rundown of who’s who in the “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” cast and the characters they’re playing, old and new.
Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) Warner Bros.
The juice is loose yet again, and he’s played by Michael Keaton once more. Keaton is, of course, perhaps best known as Beetlejuice and Batman, but you’ll also from “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Spotlight” and “Birdman.”

Upon its release, the game boasted over 30,000 concurrent players, making a thunderous debut in the world of tactical shooters. It's been more than three decades in the making, but director Tim Burton is finally back with a sequel to his 1988 classic "Beetlejuice." Thankfully, it's not in the form of "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" or one of the other many versions that didn't actually get made over the years. Instead, Burton has reunited with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara for the aptly titled "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice," which figures to be one of the biggest movies of the fall movie season. But just how big is it? Does the pandemonium continue even after the credits start rolling?
Burton isn't exactly known for franchises, to say the least. This is actually the first time he's directed a sequel to one of his own movies since 1992's "Batman Returns." So it's not like Burton is in the business of setting up things that will pay off down the road. Still, we must ask:...

It's taken 36 years but the Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, finally arrives in theaters this weekend. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton are reuniting for the movie which, as we write this, has an impressive 81% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Current box office estimates point to a $100 million - $110 million 3-day opening in North America and a less impressive 5-day debut of $35 million - $45 million overseas where Beetlejuice hasn't had the same cultural impact as in the U.S.
We're sure you're all intrigued to learn what's next for 'ol Betelgeuse, but should you stick around for anything extra once the credits start rolling? A Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice tease perhaps?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, directed by Tim Burton, marks a triumphant return to the whimsical and eerie world he first brought to life in 1988. This 2024 fantasy comedy horror film, a sequel to the original Beetlejuice, is penned by the writing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on a story they co-wrote with Seth Grahame-Smith.
The film brings back beloved characters, with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara all reprising their roles from the first movie. New faces, including Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe, add fresh energy to this much-anticipated sequel. The film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival and will be released nationwide imminently.
Years after her first encounter with the mischievous spirit, Lydia Deetz (Ryder) finds herself reluctantly drawn back into the chaotic world of the afterlife. This time, she is forced to join forces with the irreverent demon Betelgeuse (Keaton) once more.

Daniel Craig is once again returning to the screens, though this time, he will be seen in a pretty much never-seen-before role. This is because this time, he will not be portraying a die-hard action hero like he did during his iconic Bond era, but rather, would be seen in a gay role in filmmaker Luca Guadagnino’s next, Queer.

Of course, this would depict the 56-year-old actor in a new light, much different than the action hero persona he has created for himself. But while his change of lanes is one thing, what has fans truly divided is the director’s response when a fan asked Craig if his longtime character Bond could ever transform into an LGBTQ-themed storyline.

With summer nearly over, the fall movie season is almost upon us. It's certainly early but for the time being, things are looking good. September used to be a bit of a dumping ground month for studios, with that post-summer hangover setting in badly. In recent years though, things have changed. It's now become fertile ground for the right movie to break out in a big way. It very much seems like Warner Bros. and director Tim Burton have just such a movie in "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." Well over three decades after the original "Beetlejuice" hit theaters, the long-awaited sequel is poised to become a breakout smash hit.
"Beetlejuice 2" is currently looking at an opening in the $81 to $94 million range when it hits theaters next weekend, per Box Office Theory. Warner Bros., for what it's worth, is being a little more conservative, with the studio estimating a debut in the $65 to $75 million range,...

The Oscar-nominated actress, who starred in three installments of the popular spy franchise, said on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show that while she misses being part of the James Bond universe, she has “no idea” about the franchise’s future.
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen for the next,” Harris confessed. “I don’t know where they’re going, what direction. I have absolutely no idea and I’m so glad that I don’t have any idea, otherwise, I’d slip up, so nobody tells me anything.”

Beetlejuice is back! Oscar-nominated, singular creative visionary Tim Burton and Oscar nominee and star Michael Keaton reunite for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to Burton’s award winning Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was the opening film at this year’s Venice Film Festival and the sequel had a four minute standing ovation.

20 years ago, Dave Bautista was no more recognizable than a random man on the street. At 55, he is a legend with one foot in the world of WWE and another in Hollywood. The wrestler-turned-actor’s path to greatness was one of extreme hardship filled with decades’ worth of literal blood, sweat, and tears.
As a result, Bautista’s humility isn’t just a product of forced media training but the accumulated experience of 40+ years spent in neglect and relative obscurity.

Now a force to be reckoned with, the self-made movie star’s rise to global domination was not an easy task. Marked with sacrifice, uncertainty, self-doubt, financial ruin, and no guarantee of a future (let alone a glamorous one), Dave Bautista carved out a hefty chunk of respectability in an industry that is as fickle as it is superficial.

When DC Comics unleashed the Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985, it had two missions: celebrating 50 years of the publisher and cleaning the continuity, making the comic books more accessible to entice new readers. Throughout 2024, a year shy of the maxiseries’ 40th anniversary, the three-part direct-to-disc project was cleaning up or clearing out the revised continuity of Warner Animation’s DC Comics universe.
Part three arrived in late July and is welcome after the deeply disjointed and disappointing Part Two. Screenwriter Jim Krieg couldn’t seem to figure out how to pace this middle section but recovered for a stronger, but still flawed, finale. What should have been a fast-paced story that slows down to give key characters their moment continues to focus too much on one set of characters, too much talking, and not enough fun scenes chock full of heroes we’re not likely to see otherwise.

It was only after the triumphant premiere of Dr. No that the author finally abandoned his skepticism and was so impressed by Connery that he gave his character Scottish origins.
After that, the actor went on to play the iconic secret agent six more times.
1. Dr. No, 1962
The first film is called the best for a reason: it is the perfect introduction to the character, the charming spy James Bond, who has not yet become a superhero, for whom saving the world is an ordinary Tuesday. In Dr. No, Bond has no gadgets, so when he sits down at the same table with the villain, he uses only his best qualities – a developed intellect and a sharp tongue.

Accidents are a part and parcel of film production, and they seem to happen quite often on the sets of action flicks. While most of the time, on-set injuries tend to halt production for weeks and months, it was our beloved Bond actor Daniel Craig, who braved through one of his severe accidents, to carry on production for Spectre.

Although the James Bond franchise has left Daniel Craig with his fair share of injuries, it was while shooting his 2015 movie Spectre, that the actor sustained permanent damage to his knee. During a fight scene with Dave Bautista, Craig underwent severe damage that later required him to have surgery. However, despite the intensity of the injury, the actor worked through the pain to avoid a six-month delay in production.

Rotterdam Film Festival winner Cyrielle Raingou (“Le Spectre de Boko Haram”) has secured French backing for “Pour toi je reviendrai” (I’m Coming for You), which tells the story of a single mother in northern Cameroon who joins forces with a radical group of women after being cast out of her community. Raingou is pitching the project this week at the Durban FilmMart.
The film will be produced by Raingou and Alice Abah for the director’s Cameroon-based shingle Je Capture Ma Réalité, along with French producer Jean-Marie Gigon’s SaNoSi Productions. Gigon’s credits include Gessica Généus’ Haitian drama “Freda,” which was the island nation’s submission for the 2022 Academy Awards, and Maciek Hamela’s Ukrainian war documentary “In the Rearview,” which was Oscar short-listed this year.
Pic will also be co-produced by Canal+, which has acquired the film for Africa, Haiti and French overseas departments and territories. French rights are still available.
