This review is after watching the 1st season.
I really liked the first 5 episodes. There's some really interesting world building with different entities, all aiming for different things. That always leads to an exciting action plot. The animation is really vibrant too. There are also some exciting action sequences. And the soundtrack is pretty cool too.
That being said, I'm frustrated by this anime because it had a lot of potential to be great but after episode 5 it just suddenly seemed to be at a loss of direction. A lot of the cool characters set up in those initial episodes just don't show up again. And the anime forgets it's main plotline for a while. I get that there's another season coming, but keeping these things on a sideline for such a long time really didn't work well for this anime. Because the plot was one of the major reasons why I sticked with it in the first place. And, for example, a really entertaining character shows up in episode 4 but afterwards she is hardly in the anime which was disappointing. Another thing was the main character. He's very weak in this anime. I get that they accept it themselves that he has the weakest card. But he's the main character, so you have to do something other than showing him completely useless the whole time.
Atleast, during the final episode, the main plot gets somewhat back on track. I am looking forward to the 2nd season because, like I said, the plot is great till now. They've set up a lot of different storylines and I can't wait to see how they connect them. And I did enjoy some of the characters. But hopefully, they'll focus on the plot more now. If not, I'd like them to atleast show some proper development of it's characters.
