Stina, who is both poor and sick, gets a place at Hallonbacken's sanatorium to recover. She quickly becomes friends with her roommates Astrid and Christine. On a walk, the girls meet a scary lady who warns them of dangers on Hallonbacken. Stina decides to find out what the mysterious lady meant.
