Filmmaker and playwright David E. Talbert could very well be the preeminent auteur of holiday movies. In 2016, he directed Almost Christmas which was followed by El Camino Christmas in 2017. On November 13, the director will bookend his unofficial holiday trilogy with Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey on Netflix.
The musical starring Forest Whitaker, Phylicia Rashad, Keegan-Michael Key, Anika Noni Rose, Hugh Bonneville, Ricky Martin and newcomer Madalen Mills calls back to the days of old Hollywood, serving classic movie musical magic. However, it is stocked with contemporary charm with original songs by John Legend, Philip Lawrence and Davy Nathan. In addition, it’s stacked with a cast that is primarily Black — something that we have never really seen in the holiday musical genre.

If you haven’t watched Netflix’s “A Christmas Prince” yet, then you’re missing out. It’s not that the movie is really all that good. It’s Ok, but we’ll get back to that in a second. What matters is that this fairy tale rom-com has helped Netflix begin its mission: to steal Christmas from cable networks.
While networks like Lifetime, Freeform, Up, and Ion have been cranking out some holiday rom-coms and programming, Hallmark is the undisputed leader of Christmas fare. The channel began its new original Christmas movies back in October, ruled over the five-day Thanksgiving weekend, and is still making a splash with yuletide movies like “The Christmas Train” and “Switched for Christmas.”

Netflix’s latest offering is a true nightmare before Christmas — and that’s a good thing. “El Camino Christmas,” available to stream on Friday, Dec. 8, tells the story of a drifter (played by “Fifty Shades of Grey”‘s Luke Grimes) whose arrival in a sleepy California town sets off a chain of chaotic events, culminating in a fatal hostage situation at a liquor store. As the madness unfolds, countless lives — including those of a single mother (played by Letterkenny’s Michelle Mylett) and her young, introverted son — are changed forever.
In case it wasn’t already clear, this isn’t your typical comedy — and it’s definitely not your typical Christmas movie. The unconventional story, which also stars Dax Shepard and Vincent D’Onofrio as a pair of bumbling cops with absolutely no business wielding pistols, takes pride in bucking conventions at every turn, of which there are many.

Jessica Alba is a full-time businesswoman.
The 36-year-old star created the incredibly successful The Honest Company, and in a new interview for Good Housekeeping's January 2018 issue, talks about what's next on her agenda. Alba says she's no longer interested in acting, unless she's the one in charge.
"I did a role in Ted Melfi's movie El Camino Christmas, but unless I was in control, [going back] would feel weird," she tells the magazine. "If I could develop a film or a series for Netflix, that would be cool. I still have my Dark Angel fans, and Hollywood is finally allowing women to star more in action franchises, which is a passion of mine."
Of course, Alba also has her hands full being a mom to her daughters, 9-year-old Honor and 6-year-old Haven. She's currently pregnant with her third child with husband Cash Warren, a baby boy.
"I feared I would lose my sense of self in becoming a mom, but...

Kristen Bell has no filter, and it's one of the many reasons Dax Shepard loves her. But, as the El Camino Christmas actor confessed on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday, it's also becoming a slight problem in their marriage. Shepard himself is known to over-share in interviews, so he's less worried about what she says than he is about how other people are interpreting her words.
