Mad props to Hart for showing his real acting chops, and breaking his typecasting comedic-only roles.
As far as this film goes, it really wasn't anything new or extraordinary. It was 100% predictable, and filled with every possible cliche for it's genre. Writer and director Paul Weitz left our imagination starving with his formulaic and sappy slow paced screenplay, that felt much longer than its 109 min runtime. It also felt that Weitz intentionally left out many missed opportunities for laughter, just to keep Hart in character, which made the story that much more bland.
The only thing you'll remember down the road, is that "Kevin Hart can be a serious actor, like he was in that movie.... what was it called again?"
