Clelia Mountford is exiting Bad Sisters maker Merman to launch an All3 Media-backed scripted indie.
Sunburnt Penguin will sit within All3’s scripted ranks, focusing on drama and comedy projects. It debuts with a development slate in place.
Mountford co-founded Merman with Sharon Horgan in 2014 and together they built a TV and film production business in the UK and U.S. with credits for the likes of Apple TV+’s comedy Bad Sisters, which is set to debut a second season on November 13; BBC comedies Motherland and There She Goes, Channel 4 and Prime Video’s Catastrophe; Channel 4/Hulu co-pro This Way Up; and Sky drama Dreamland. Mountford also executive produced the upcoming Channel 4 series Disability Benefits with Rosie Jones and Amandaland for BBC One, starring Lucy Punch.
Mountford said: “After a wonderful decade at Merman, I am delighted to be joining the brilliant All3Media family for my next chapter.

Throughout her already prolific career, producer/actor Margot Robbie has proven herself to have a taste that's as discerning as it is eclectic. Most actors attempt to demonstrate their ability to take on as large of a range of projects as possible, yet the demands of the business and marketing sides of the film industry usually see them typecast in some form, usually in a genre if not a specific type of role. This is why Robbie's career is worth pointing out for how diverse it is; she's been able to find a niche for herself that has allowed her to easily move between action films, dramas, period pieces like "Mary Queen Of Scots," comedies, genre flicks, and prestige pics, all while growing her A-list status and not being relegated to either an awards-bait character actor or a paycheck-bait comic book movie star. As a producer, she's demonstrated a steady...

It was Martin Scorsese’s iconic The Wolf of Wall Street that gave Margot Robbie the recognition she deserved, and since then, the Australian actress has only been attracting major roles. Little did she know that starting a life in Hollywood would lead her to settle down and start a family as well.
In 2013, while the Birds of Prey actress basked in success following her big break, it was also the same year she met her eventual husband, Tom Ackerley, on the set of Suite Française, a World War II drama. Their lives would change forever a year later.

‘Bad Sisters’ has received rave reviews, and Apple TV+ subscribers won’t have to go far to find it.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, “Slow Horses” will wrap up its fourth season on Apple TV+. The show has already been renewed for a fifth, but even so, it will be a while before fans see new episodes after Wednesday’s Season 4 finale. The dry British humor and taught, tense writing of “Slow Horses” make it a must-see for Apple TV+ subscribers, but once you’re finished you may be feeling a little left out in the cold.
There’s no shortage of titles to turn to next on Apple TV+, but if you are looking for a show that will scratch your incessant Slough House-inspired itch, I do have one recommendation that might fit the bill; and it just so happens to be on the same streamer, so you don’t have...

The fall market and festival season is traditionally a thrilling time for the French animation sector as companies prepare to unveil new projects, partnerships, and distribution deals at events such as the Unifrance Rendez-Vous, Cartoon Forum, Mipcom and MipJunior.
This year, however, French animation finds itself in a precarious spot, having been hard hit by a recent contraction among international distribution platforms that had, for several years now – especially during and post-pandemic, been investing heavily in the region.
Despite holding its spot as France’s No. 2 screen industry export medium, with a 25.2% market share, animation had a rough 2023. Foreign sales fell 11.2% to €51.2 million ($56.3 million), according to a Cnc report unveiled at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous on Tuesday. The overwhelming bulk of that drop can be attributed to American investors, who cut back by 69.7% to €4.3 million ($4.7 million). The rest of the world saw a less steep drop of just 6.6% to €12.9 million ($14.2 million), still significant.

“Elizabethtown. ““Dean.” “August: Osage County.” All somewhat recent cinematic efforts of the past several decades revolving around a person or two dealing with the passing of a family member, more often than not, accompanied by a return to their childhood home or small town that will itself become far more inevitably meaningful by film’s end. Directed by renaissance man Robert Schwartzman, having helmed such efforts as “Dreamland,” “The Unicorn,” and “The Argument” in addition to fronting indie group Rooney and appearing onscreen as the dreamboat love interest in “The Princess Diaries,” there’s a smattering of ambition present throughout his latest project “The Good Half, “one that can easily find itself in line with the contemporaries above but can’t help but repeatedly trip over its storytelling shoelaces in the process.

Post-2005 Doctor Who main TV-show companions. That’s the first qualifier to add to the following list. For now at least, we’re celebrating only the Nu-Who main companions who had their own proper stint travelling in the Tardis, or any of the many wonderful actors who preceded them in the classic era.
Now that the rationale has been set out, join us to round up some of the best after-Who roles from the likes of Billie Piper, Freema Agyeman, Catherine Tate, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, Jenna Coleman, Pearl Mackie, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole. It’s too early to add Millie Gibson to this gang but look out for her in rebooted period drama The Forsyte Saga when it arrives.

Flush with new cash thanks to The Walt Disney Company, Doctor Who is getting another spinoff.
The BBC and Disney+ have ordered The War Between The Land And The Sea, a five-part spinoff series starring Russell Tovey and Gugu Mbatha-Raw alongside existing Doctor Who stars Jemma Redgrave and Alexander Devrient.
The War Between The Land And The Sea focuses on military organization Unit. Per the logline, when a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing themselves to humanity, an international crisis is triggered. With the entire population at risk, Unit steps into action as the land and sea wage war.
Doctor Who showrunner and executive producer Russell T Davies wrote the spinoff with Pete McTighe (A Discovery of Witches) and it features the return of the Sea Devils, classic Doctor Who villains first seen in 1972. It comes after the spinoff was alluded to in the 73 Yards episode,...

Those with a certain… let’s say… love for the human foot have a new reason to smile, as Lily Allen has begun selling videos and photographs of her feet on OnlyFans.
For $10 a month, interested parties can gain access to Allen’s newly created page. As of the time of writing, there are seven posts available, presumably with more to come.
Allen announced the page via an Instagram Story post on Tuesday (July 2nd) showing off a preview of the content. “La dolce feeta,” she wrote, linking to the OnlyFans account.
As pointed out by Billboard, the move comes just two weeks after Allen discussed her unusually beloved feet on her Miss Me? podcast. “I have a lady that comes and does my nails,” she told her co-host. “They informed me that I have five stars on WikiFeet, which is quite rare. My feet are rated quite highly on the internet.

“Oh, shit!” Dave Bayley exclaims. His blue eyes are wide as he holds his head with both hands. The Glass Animals frontman has just heard some great news from his publicist, who confirms that the U.K. band’s hit song, “Heat Waves,” is officially RIAA diamond certified, representing 10 million sales and streaming units. Bayley blinks rapidly and sputters in disbelief, trying to think of what to say next in his Zoom with Rolling Stone. “I don’t quite know what to make of it!” he adds.

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from musician turned filmmaker Robert Schwartzman, the younger brother of Jason Schwartzman and part of the larger Coppola-related film dynasty. Schwartzman began his career as lead vocalist of the rock/pop band Rooney. But circa 2014, he shifted towards writing and directing and directed “Dreamland” (2016), “The Unicorn” (2018), and “The Argument” (2020).

“You blew me to stardust,” Glass Animals lead singer Dave Bayley sings on the U.K. band’s latest single “Tear in Space (Airlock).” The tantalizing track swirls with synths over a pulsating beat as Bayley’s falsetto compares an all-consuming love to being trapped in the pressurized, in-between area of a space shuttle. Trippy shit, right?

Look around and you just may find yourself amid a Pet Shop Boys renaissance.
Of course, the English duo — consisting of Neil Tennant, 69, and Chris Lowe, 64 — never went anywhere. They have been steadily putting out music since their landmark 1984 debut, Please, which instantly established them with timeless songs like “West End Girls” and “Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money).”
But Pet Shop Boys’ deep catalog has been plundered in recent years everywhere from Madison Avenue (“Opportunities” showed up in a Super Bowl ad for Allstate) to Hollywood (several classics were used to wonderful effect in two of last year’s zeitgeistiest movies, Saltburn and All of Us Strangers). Their signature sound is suddenly everywhere — wistful and longing, danceable and intellectually sophisticated synth-pop. English quartet Glass Animals are back to announce their fourth album, I Love You So F***ing Much, and shared the LP’s lead single, “Creatures in Heaven.” Update: Glass Animals have announced a 2024 world tour.
Due out July 19th, I Love You So F***ing Much is Glass Animals’ follow up to 2020’s Dreamland, which gave the band their first #1 hit in the US with “Heat Waves.” The new album, then, was born from the chaos of supporting a record during the pandemic and finding newfound success within the band. Exclusive: Tony winner Adrienne Warren is set to star in and executive produce Dreamland, a period drama series in development at Peacock from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Written and executive produced by Eric Haywood (Law & Order: Organized Crime), Dreamland explores the world of Black Wall Street, the legendary African-American business district in Tulsa, Oklahoma’s segregated Greenwood community. Set in 1915, the series avoids depicting the well-known deadly massacre that took place several years later. Instead, it explores the daily lives, interpersonal relationships, and class struggles of Greenwood’s residents — all taking place in the shadow of an oil boom that ignited long-standing tensions between the city’s white, African-American, and displaced Native American populations.

If Doctor Who fans ever felt hard done by during any of the show’s previous big anniversaries then the 60th is here to soothe spirits, hand out cherished gifts, and generally make a bloody big hair-ruffling fuss of the lot of us.
First came news of David Tennant and Catherine Tate’s return in three anniversary specials, then came the ‘roughly 8 million episodes of Doctor Who are coming to BBC iPlayer on November 1’ announcement, then they brought back Doctor Who Confidential under a different name, and now…
…three Classic era Doctors are returning alongside eight former Doctor Who Companions (plus The Sarah Jane Adventures’ Clyde Langer) for new series Tales of the Tardis.
New Scenes, Classic Who Cast
Not a behind-the-scenes documentary, and not standalone adventures, the six-part series will pair up the stars of classic Who acting in new scenes together, in character, wrapped around episodes from six existing serials.

In a world that has gifted Greta Gerwig the possibility to focus all her creative skills and talents on Barbie, the film becomes the pink dream we all hoped it would be. After months and months of their marketing campaign, which often felt like seeing a sea of pink slowly wash towards us, the creators behind Barbie were right to put everything they had into getting people into the theatres to see this on the big screen. Not only does Barbie reach something on a creative and entertaining level, but it touches deeper and lingers on the mind longer than any movie about a doll has the right to.

This article contains spoilers for the Disenchantment series finale.
A new animated series from Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, should have been a clear winner and modern cartoon classic. Oddly enough, Bean’s misadventures through Dreamland and its constant fantasy genre subversions in Disenchantment have barely left a mark on the medium. It initially seemed like Disenchantment had somehow learned the worst lessons from The Simpsons and Futurama through a focus on dense lore and heavy serialized stories. Disenchantment, while fun, would struggle with its growing scope and undergo a perpetual identity crisis on the type of series it wanted to be and what it does best.
It’s been a bumpy journey, but Disenchantment impressively pulls everything together for its final season. This last batch of episodes finally figures out how to use this big world and its many supporting characters after seasons of awkward attempts to connect these dots.

In a world that has gifted Greta Gerwig the possibility to focus all her creative skills and talents on Barbie, the film becomes the pink dream we all hoped it would be. After months and months of their marketing campaign, which often felt like seeing a sea of pink slowly wash towards us , the creators behind Barbie were right to put everything they had into getting people into the theatres to see this on the big screen. Not only does Barbie reach something on a creative and entertaining level, but it touches deeper and lingers on the mind longer than any movie about a doll has the right to.

Before Margot Robbie was Barbie, she was Harley Quinn, Naomi Lapaglia, Tonya Harding, and many more characters. There's no doubt Robbie loves her job as an actor, and while tackling the role of an iconic children's toy wasn't initially on her career bucket list, it's clear she's happy she took a chance with the role.
A month before the highly anticipated July 2023 release of "Barbie," Robbie spoke to Vogue about how playing the role never even crossed her mind. "It wasn't that I ever wanted to play Barbie, or dreamt of being Barbie, or anything like that," she explained. "This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn't even think about playing Barbie until years into developing the project."
And while "Barbie" might arguably be Robbie's most hyped-up movie in her career so far, it's by no means the only role she's slayed. Take a look back at Robbie's best movies below.

In an infinite sea of remakes and remasters, the latest re-release for the Nintendo Switch, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, doesn’t even qualify. It’s essentially a port, albeit with some added content, akin to the console’s best-selling Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Like those titles, Return to Dream Land acts as a second chance for a somewhat overlooked game to hit the gaming zeitgeist thanks to the colossal success of Nintendo’s hybrid handheld. Unlike those games, Kirby didn’t really need it.

Sky is seeking inspiration from Happy Valley for its next hit show as programs boss Zai Bennett says the pay-tv giant is taking a ‘less is more’ approach to original content.
Speaking at a Broadcasting Press Guild event this morning, Sky Studios Director of Original Drama Meghan Lyvers said conversations are taking place with producers about shows that have “an investigative spine with complicated, dysfunctional, flawed, human and relatable characters at the center,” evoking Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire’s Catherine Cawood.
She responded “perhaps yes” when questioned if the next big Sky drama could be led by a Cawood-esque figure and talked up the way in which the BBC One/AMC+ sensation places an older woman front and centre of the story. A similar show, the Kate Winslet-starring Mare of Easttown, was launched by Sky and HBO in 2021 to critical acclaim.

Beyoncé just made history when she took home the Grammy for best dance/electronic music album for "Renaissance," netting her 32nd Grammy - the most of any artist ever. From the start, Beyoncé's "Renaissance" era has been a celebration of house music, beginning with its lead single, "Break My Soul," which was released in June 2022.
"Break My Soul" features a sample of Robin S.'s house hit "Show Me Love." Before she was sampled on the song, Robin S. was a major hitmaker in the house-music world. Her 1993 track "Show Me Love" was a hit in the early '90s, and her singles "Luv 4 Luv" and "What I Do Best" also topped the charts and helped establish the house genre around the world.
