Poor, lousy, sorry direction. Some "actors" should not direct. Everything about this is bad other than - of all things - the acting. Decent performances wasted on a lousy script and lousy wannabe arthouse direction.

I sat down to watch the 2020 movie "Cut and Chop" under the impression that I was in for a horror comedy. However, this movie turned out to be an elongated artistic impression of a movie. Which was quite the swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me.
The storyline, as written by writer and director Drew Hale, was just too boring for me. I didn't enjoy the events that took place on the screen, and it didn't help much to win me over that virtually nothing of any interest or worthwhile watching happened in the 40 minutes of agonizing torment I suffered through. Yeah, I didn't even make it halfway through "Cut and Chop" and then I left without looking back. This movie was just simply not cutting it for me, pardon the pun.
It should be said that Drew Hale, as the lead actor, was actually doing an okay job with portraying the disturbingly odd character. However, that performance just wasn't enough to make up for the lack of proper storyline or entertainment value that was not present.
I have zero intention of returning to watch the rest of "Cut and Chop", because it was just too artsy for me, and too boring actually.
My rating of "Cut and Chop" lands on a mere two out of ten stars, solely because the movie had some adequate production value to it at least.

If American Psycho had an abortion, this film would probably be the discharge. It's definitely not good, but I must admit, it is strangely entertaining. If you like horror(?) movies with a bit of dark humor, artsy atmosphere and a psychological component to their story telling, you may appreciate this film. It is predictable, yet at the same time it's just strange and disturbing enough to keep you invested. The characters are also relatively likable and fleshed out so that it gives you something to feel invested in. Overall, I think there are some set ups for interesting turns, but in the end it fails at rising above anything but a slightly above average b film for those who enjoy this type of genre. Still, I am curious to see what happens next and would watch a sequel.

One word to perfectly describe the movie is captivating. No it is not the greatest movie ever made because not everyone has the same taste, but it is a great movie. Drew Hale the director/ actor of the main character does a great job in his first job directing. Although he is a sadistic madman you cannot help but sympathize with Tom. If you're looking for an intense thriller with good character development I would definitely recommend giving it a watch.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect to see a kind of American Psycho movie. The story is minimalist, but the acting was great. Well shot, well executed and the classical needle-drop score is gorgeous and it makes it all the more shocking.
I've just put Drew Hayle on my watch list of promising talent. Great show.
