Penn and Teller play a fictionalized version of themselves in the pilot. After Cameron Black is found out they say that magicians don't "lie" to their audience but "trick" and "fool" them. Penn often says to audience members that he and Teller don't mind them knowing that a seemingly dangerous trick is a lie, because they feel like not doing so would involve the audience in unnecessary risk to human life.

Penn and Teller the famous magic duo make a cameo as themselves after Cameron has been "exposed" and say that magicians "trick" and "fool" their audience but don't lie to them. Penn and Teller star on a magic show named "Fool Us" where they invite aspiring magicians to try and trick them.

On May 11, 2018, ABC decided to cancel the series after just one season with 13 episodes.
