The story line behind the show is pretty decent. Without going into much detail, with the star power it carries you would think the acting would be alot better. The budget has to be very limited because the special effects are terrible. The camera angles are poor not sure if its bad directing or just very bootleg. I think the show has the potential to be great if the right network gets their hands on it. A story of this caliber needs a netflix or hbo even starz type of budget. Some minor character adjustments and you have a major hit show.

Season one was amazing season two, a waste of time. I'm absolutely surprised there will be a season three. I'm disappointed that 2 was rubbish.

The development of characters and plot was interrupted too many times. Looks like it will be an exciting series. I will give a chance.

Books are always better than the movies.... I have two issues: that stupid toothpick in Orlando's mouth is driving me nuts!!! And his dye job is driving me nuts too..... although not like the book, I continue to watch it...

This is entertaining television to take my mind off all the depressing things in the real world. The eye candy is hot regarding both the men and women. The acting isn't that great but I love seeing Valerie Pettiford gangsta character. She is beautiful and it's fun seeing her in this character.

This show is awesome. If you read the Family Business books it's great to see this show in action. The characters are beautiful, the scenes are opulent, and the storyline flowed well. I hope it gets a 5th season because there are storylines that need to be touched on. Carl Weber and BET+ do an awesome job bringing the books to life. I don't think the acting is bad-I just think that they have unseasoned actors mixed in with seasoned actors, which makes it hard to handle sometimes. None of the children are that great at acting and some of the minor characters seem like they're just saying lives and not actually acting with feeling. Overall I think the reviews saying it's horrible are fakers who only watched one it two episodes.

30 November 2018: I like the cast with Ernie Hudson, Valarie Pettiford, Darrin D. Henson and sexy and cute Javicia Leslie. I disagree with some of the critics who think the show and acting is bad. I like the show, the cast and the acting is good. I think every all African American cast movie or dvd movie always have character actor, Clifton Powell. He has over 100 credits in low budget no name dvd movies that most haven't heard of, but most known for the film "Ray" about singer Ray Charles. Check him out in a funny low budget dvd flick "35 and Ticking".

It's flashy and a bit unrealistic to see Black gangsters living in Beverly Hills in what we normally see Italians and some Jewish gangster doing. It seem to take the idea of the hit Denzel film; " American Gangster" taking the gang members off the street corner and dressing them up with fine clothes and nice fancy cars. They sell cars by day, but I have watched all three episodes and nary an episode have shown people coming in to buy cars and selling cars is supposed to be part of the show's main plot line. I am glad that to see some Latino actors in mixed in the series and actor, Armand Assante as mobster is a nice touch. The show also has some nice sweet, sexy young eye candy. I hope the it last for a few years. Keep writing better plots and it will last. I give it a thumb up.

I love the show and the actors. The sound goes high to low sometimes and some of the scenes could be better cut but overall I think the storyline is great and the cast is awesome.

I have read all four books pertaining to this show. Well done Mr. Weber. This is so the best tv series that was adapted from a book that I've read. Hope this is a show that will be on for a while. Keep up the GREAT JOB Mr. Weber a true fan that have read a lot of your books. Can't wait ti to read the next book in the series of Family Business.😗😙😚

Really bad acting! B class tv show. I was expecting more but it is annoying to see how bad they acting. Shut it of after 15 minutes.

I've read all of Carl Weber's books. I truly enjoyed The Family Business series. You can onny imagine how excited I am ti tune in weekly. There is only one hiccup. Tami Roman is believed to be to old for this role. This is not only my view but those od my friend who tune in. I love Tami. This character seems a little out of place. I could see her maybe playing the mom.

I never heard about this and did not really know anything about it but was wanting to watch something new. The bad reviews must be from professional acting coaches but if you are just a normal person like myself I would give this a chance. In the beginning some of the acting was kind of bad but after 3-4 episodes I felt like it picked up. The storyline was pretty good actually, I didn't mind it. I like how the family always had each others back and they promoted families sticking together no matter what.

I am just starting season 4 but I would give it a chance. There is definitely way worse out there.

For me, Ernie Hudson carries the show. Although I'm still watching season 1, the plot is excellent. However, the great acting seems to be lacking; other than, as I mentioned before, Ernie Hudson's performance. His performance is top-notch in this show; like it was made for him to do. The show's plot reminded me somewhat, of a Black Sopranos. It's definitely worth the watch, just to see how the story plays out. I recommend it for everyone who is looking for a Sopranos like TV show. L. C. Duncan's motto is to protect the family first, at any cost! So he goes to great extremes to keep his motto. Very good plot for tv watching.

I was looking forward to this series because of the cast. I am so disappointed. The acting is overdone and fake. Armand Assante is a caricature of what? I don't know. His acting is appalling. The rest of the cast are obviously there for the money. What a disgrace! Don't waste your time. I watched 2 episodes hoping it would improve. Two hours (with numerous commercials) that I will never get back.

I thought the show was interesting and packed with a lot of of actions. I came online to see if it was more episodes coming and couldn't believe all the negative reviews.

I loved Power also but love this show just as well. So don't believe all the negativity. See it for yourself.

I watched all episodes in a week. It showed how most families stick together rather good or bad.

Filled with a lot great actors. I loved the actors and can't wait for more episodes.

Would like to find out what happened to the family after all that happened on the last episode. It kept my interest and that's hard to do.

The acting, production, stunts and directing in this movie makes me irk.

It's very sad because I have seen few of the actors act real good in other movies. I am confused as to what is going on with this movie. Seems rushed. No commitment.

When you watch this series with nice homes, cars and clothes, you can "see" what they're trying to do. But bad actors overdoing it, obvious scenarios and bad soundtracks and noises during each episode are the reason that serie is failing from the start. It's really bad.

Good story line, but compared to similar plots and their execution, Family Business is below average. The seriousness of many life & death situations just isn't there. They actually feel "plastic". 1. P'ple are executing dire actions (like murders) while smiling and laughing. 2. Adult scenes also feel very artificial and just "acted".
