An important part of the movie is set in the town of Salamanca, being the Main or Major Square (Plaza Mayor) widely relevant. It was actually shot in that very square, although the vegetation shown had to be added as in the moment of shooting the square had none.
The flashback/dream sequence, in which a couple lies under an oak was shot in the Ipiñaburu neighborhood, in Zeanuri.
The University of Salamanca was founded as a "studium generale" in 1218 by King Alfonso IX of the Kingdom of León and in 1252 was awarded the tittle of "University" by King Alfonso X, the wise.
