The Acolyte (2024)
WARNING!!
I started watching this with the hope to be entertained. I was disappointed. When the Jedi said to a complete stranger "yes my child?" I knew the writing was going to be bad. The characters are forgettable and unlikable which causes me to have no interest in any of the actions of plots of the show. Only two episodes in and I decided to look at the reviews and saw 10s...these are obviously fake and it's just pathetic to see people doing this. This is horrible entertainment. The effects should definitely be better since it's easy to tell they put a lot of money into it. Instead they should've put more money into a neutral and invested writer to lead the writing department. Extreme HARD PASS. Watched the latest...wow how these horrible writers and set designers getting these jobs?
Gojira -1.0 (2023)
Must see on BIG screen
Great movie! The writing, the acting, the music...the everything. This feels like a fan film done on the big screen. This is truly a monster movie with a heart. Saw this with my wife and kids. The kids weren't really into going but after we were all talking about how great of a movie it was. The cg put those big over inflated "blockbuster" movies to shame with its 15,000,000$ budget. You can tell the passion that was put into it especially with the perfect moments when the old Godzilla music played...pure perfection. I wish it would be rereleased in imax theaters for a longer time to give the next generation a peak of a classic in the making. PLEASE MAKE A SEQUAL!
The Flash (2023)
Good solid comic book movie
Really easy to follow no need for crazy explanations. Really filled the comic book movie shoes this year. With political glasses lately in movies lately I'm glad this one was just a movie made for entertainment sake. I loved the homage given to all those who played Superman and Batman. Nic cage almost played Superman in the past so cool to him get out in there. Some scenes must've been deleted at some points made some moments choppy but still enjoyable. The "baby shower" scene (bad CG and all) was totally unexpected and hilarious! The Batman affleck and Keaton are both amazing in their own ways but both hold your attention when on the screen. Worth watching.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Entertaining movie
Brought the family to watch it and we all enjoyed it. Can always tell an entertaining movie when we all talked about it afterwards on the ride home with no down points about it. It's a beautiful movie and really doubled down on family bonds which was a breath of fresh air. After the disappointment we had with black Panther 2 we were all worried about the runtime and horrible story telling but it was just perfect amount of both. Every moment was justified and was building up a new future to look forward to in the world of Pandora. Even with the long runtime we all are ok with going to imax to watch it again but this time in 3-d (tickets were sold out). Keep them coming we are on board with this style and art of entertainment.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Pancakes the movie
WAY TO LONG!!! My family are huge marvel and dc fans and this one handled the villain with skill but it took way to do so. Felt as if they tried way too hard to fill time. The story was going all over the place and having to fill the viewer in with long boring dialogue and it was done lazily. The action scenes were hit and miss, sometimes with no point. I really wished I didn't have to write 600 words, cause this movie only moved me to regret not waiting till it was in Disney + cause it was just filler...Pancakes!!! That's what I would call it, taste good in the beginning then slowly I started hating it feeling as if I was being tortured with my family stuck there with me cause we paid for it..
Willow (2022)
Pass
Tried to like it but not made for fans of the original movie. My family couldn't stand it we laughed at how cringy the acting was and voted to watch Lego masters. We won't be watching it from here on out. It felt like they based the show on a scene in a high school hallway in a b movie, then shot it as fantasy adventure. If it just focused on the previous characters as the main protagonists I feel it would've been different. Also it's just sad to see the actual actors brought down either by other actors or the directors or producers, but someone's to blame because everything just felt forced like trying to save a bad joke.
