My Old Ass (2024)
A body swap with a twist
Aubrey Plaza(Agatha All Along) and Maise Stella(who's sister is singer Lennon Stella) star in this 2024 Fantasy Comedy about a stoned young woman named Elliot(Stella) who meets an older version of herself(Plaza).
Together she learns more about herself in the coming years and has to come to terms with her own life.
Overall it was a real surprise. Sorta reminded me of the Bruce Willis film The Kid meets 17 Again only the character is high off her head on drugs. I guess the only gripe is the two actresses looked nothing alike. If they hired an actress that actually looked like the main character then it might have been better.
Still it was a decent watch.
Meet Me Next Christmas (2024)
Gotta love cheesy Christmas romcoms
Meet Me Next Christmas is a 2024 festive romantic comedy starring Christina Milian,Devale Ellis,Kofi Siriboe and Pentatonix.
The story follows Layla (Milian) who caught her boyfriend Tanner(Brendan Morgan) cheating on her 3 days before Christmas. Devastated she goes to an airport and bumps into James(Siriboe) and romance blossoms. However she loses contact with him,but she later finds out that he is going to see the accapala group Pentatonix in NYC for Christmas.
Problems arise though when Layla can't get a ticket and she meets another man named Teddy(Ellis) who helps her get a ticket to see Pentatonix. But will Layla choose James or Teddy?.
I sorta knew who she was going to choose in the end. But hey it was a decent watch.
Probably watch it again in December.
Scrooged (1988)
Good rendition of A Christmas Carol
Scrooged is a 1988 Christmas Fantasy Comedy starring Bill Murray and Karen Allen. Directed by Richard Donner(producer for the original X Men and directed Superman),Murray plays Frank a disgruntled tv executive who gets paid a visit from 3 ghosts Past,Present and Future.
Now Frank must learn the true meaning of Christmas. Will his heart melt before the Holiday season?.
Overall it was a decent film. The story isn't original but if your a fan of A Christmas Carol then this is for you.
Also features cameos from Buddy Hackett,Wendi Maleik,Lee Majors and a very young Alfie Woodhard from The Lion King remake.
Past Lives (2023)
Very good
Synopis
In Korea, Na Young, a girl and Hae Sung, a boy are school mates and good friends. They often walk back home together after school. Na Young moves to Canada and then to New York with her parents. Hae Sung continues living in Korea, does his engineering course, goes through a short spell of military service and then takes up a job. Both keep in touch periodically through video chats where they talk of their past and general stuff. Meanwhile in New York, Na has changed her name to Nora, made a name as a playwright and is happily married to Arthur, an American. Hae is keen to meet Nora and visits her in New York where he spends some time with her and Arthur. What has the future in store for Nora and Hae in their relationship?
Overall this was a good movie that features Korean and English language. If you like One Day meets Friends With Benefits then this is for you.
What Happens Later (2023)
Not the best Meg Ryan film I've seen but I'm glad she made a comeback
What Happens Later is a 2023 romcom starring Meg Ryan(who also directed this film) and David Duchovy.
The story follows Bill(Duchovy) who is stranded at the airport with his ex girlfriend Willa(Ryan)who wants to go home. So the two get reacquainted and they soon realise that they have always loved each other.
There's nothing really great in this film as it only shows the two main characters stuck at an airport and that was if. We don't even see any other characters at all in this film.
Meg Ryan is a great actress yet she always gets typecast as the goody two shoes in romcoms. Hopefully we haven't seen the last of Ryan.
Mr. 365 (2018)
Predictable Christmas romcom
Alternatively called Forever Christmas, thia film stars Christopher Russell and Chelsea Hobbs.
The story is about an executive producer named Sophia(Hobbs) who is assigned to produce a reality show about Christmas. She sets her eyes on a young man named Will(Russell) who is known as Mr 365 as he is a Christmas fanatic.
However Sophia starts to fall for Will and now she has to wonder will he love her back or will he think that she is using him for the show.
Now you know me I love cheesy romantic comedies set during the Christmas period. They always lift my spirits.
This film however is very predictable and the chemistry between the two leads was a hit and miss for me.
Time Cut (2024)
Totally Killer rip off
Time Cut is a 2024 Thriller starring Madison Bailey and Griffin Gluck.
The story follows a young girl named Lucy(Bailey) who's sister Summer(Antoina Gentria)was murdered by a serial killer on April 18th 2003. So Summer decides to time travel to 2003 on the same day and find the killer. But who could the killer be? Could it be her sisters boyfriend or her friend Quinn(Gluck).
If you seen Amazon Prime's Totally Killer then you probably know what's going to happen in this film.
The soundtrack is very good though from Avril Lavinge to Hilary Duff to even Vanessa Carlton.
Available on Netflix.
Ok.
The Village (2004)
Not the best off M Night Shaylahan
The Village is a 2004 Thriller starring Bryce Dallas Howard,William Hurt,Sigourney Weaver, Adrian Brody,Joaquin Phoenix,Brendan Gleeson and Judy Greer.
A family living in Pensylvania in the 19th century notice some strange behaviour as each one somewhat gets killed by elders. So one of the people has to figure out why this is happening and is everything all it seems to be?.
Overall this was an OK movie. Not as good as The Sixth Sense. The plot twist was also kinda stupid as it was revealed that the people living in the 19th century are actually from the 21st century and they have been in some sort of cult all this time.
The Omen (2006)
Decent remake to the 1976 orignal
Now I have never seen the 1976 version of The Omen so I decided to watch the 2006 remake instead with Julia Stiles,Liev Schreiber, David Thewlis,Pete Potewhistle,Micheal Gambon,Mia Farrow and Seamus Fitzpatrick.
The story follows a loving couple named Katherine and Robert Thorn(Stiles and Schreiber) who long to have a child. Tragedy strikes though as Katherine loses her baby and her husband Robert is forced to take an orphaned baby at the hospital and bribe his wife into thinking that she never lost the baby.
Now named Damien,Katherine starts to notice strange things happening. From an attempt suicide to other sinister activities. Could Damien be the son of Satan?.
Overall it was a decent film. The acting is good as I like the two main leads especially Liev Schreiber who is criminally underrated.
The Simpsons: Pygmoelian (2000)
Great episode that's often forgotten
This episode review contains some spoilers.
This episode is from Season 11 and it focuses on Moe the bartender(Hank Azaria) who wins at the Duff Beer Festival contest.
However when he wins and sees his face covered on the calendar, his devastated that his face was covered due to him being unattractive. So he decides to get plastic surgery that alters his appearance.
Now with a new face,he also becomes popular with the ladies and he lands on a soap opera which sorta reminds me of that scene from Tootise.
But will his new looks cause problems?.
Overall it was a great episode. The only issue and this was addressed was why did Moe's face go back to his ugly face again?. Maybe it wasn't a face lift at all but possibly botox.
Imaginary (2024)
Not bad but not that great either
Imaginary is a 2024 Psychological Horror about a woman who moves to her old childhood home where her stepdaughters are living with her and their dad. However the youngest daughter finds a stuffed teddy bear named Chauncey and she begins to hallucinate. Will the woman stop the teddy bear?.
Now before watching this I was expecting Childs Play but with a teddy bear that talks.
Instead the teddy bear doesn't talk and in another twist of faith the bear never actually existed (hence the title of the film). Yeah it's really stupid and strange. If you are into these films then you may like it. For me it was bad.
Happy Family (2017)
Hotel Transylvania but mediocre
Monster Family is a 2017 Animated Film from Sky Original and features the voice talents of Emily Watson,Nick Frost,Jason Issacs and Catherine Tate.
The story follows Emma Wishbone(Watson) a miserable woman from the UK who's husband is a workaholic and her children are very difficult. Things take a turn when Emma accidently rings up Count Dracula(Issacs) as she thought it was a costume store but he wants Emma to be his bride.
So a witch(Tate) is assigned by Dracula to curse Emma and transform her into a vampire. But the plan backfires and now Emma is a vampire, her husband is Frankenstein (who farts btw),her son is a werewolf and her daughter is a mummy.
Will Emma and her family reverse the spell?.
Overall this was average. What I noticed was the sync for the characters mouths aren't going with the characters at all,as its like it wasn't the original dub. Second it tries way too hard to be like Hotel Transylvania but 10 times worse than that film which is far more superior.

Fright Night (1985)
Good vampire movie
Having watched the 2011 remake with Coin Farrell and Anton Yechin, I decided to watch the 1985 original on Amazon Prime. Directed by Tom Holland(no not Spiderman's Tom Holland),this film stars William Ragsdale(Mannequin 2),Chris Sarandon(The Princess Bride),Amanda Bearse(Married With Children),Roddy McDowell(Cleopatra)and Jonathan Stark(According To Jim).
The story follows Charley(Ragsdale) a young teen who suspects that his next door neighbour Jerry(Sarandon) is a blood sucking vampire along with his friend Billy Cole(Stark). So Charley and his friend Amy(Bearse) and his friend Ed(Stephen Geoffreys)must get help from a vampire hunter(McDowell) to take down Jerry before its too late.
Overall it was a good film. Its not a beat by beat of the 2011 version which is a good thing since remakes off originals keep the same premise and add nothing to them. If you like Vampire films then you'll like this.
Woman of the Hour (2023)
Pretty disturbing
Woman of the Hour is a 2023 Thriller directed by Anna Kendrick in her directiorial debut and also stars Anna Kendrick and Tony Hale.
Based on a true story of Cheryl Bradshaw and Rodney Alcala.
The story follows Bradshaw(Kendrick)who was a bachelorette on a TV matchmaking show in the 70s called The Dating Game and chose handsome and funny bachelor No. 3, named Rodney Alcala.
But behind his charming personality,he is hiding a deadly secret: He was a psychopathic serial killer who lures women and kills them.
Will Cheryl be the next one on his list?. For a woman who is known for her quirky roles,Anna sure knocked it out of the park with this one.
However the film feels very choppy from time to time and we never see Cheryl ever again after she picks Rodney as her date, like what happened to her?.
Not bad.
Match Point (2005)
I'm sorry but I wasn't a fan of this one.
Match Point is a 2005 Thriller starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers,Matthew Goode,Scarlett Johanson and Emily Mortimer. Directed by Woody Allen, the story follows Chris Wilton (Meyers) who is still struggling financially despite being a recently retired high ranked tennis pro.
So he decides to take a job as a tennis instructor at an elite London tennis club, where he befriends one of his students, wealthy Tom Hewett (Goode).
Later Chris starts to date Tom's sister, Chloe Hewett (Mortimer)who is smitten with Chris she wants to marry him eventually. Chloe quickly knows she wants to marry Chris eventually.
However Chris later meets a beautiful young woman named Nola Rice (Johansson), a struggling American actress who Chris meets at the Hewett estate. But she is already taken. Now Nola is manipulating Chris and wants him to get his wife out of the picture. But will he go for desperate measures?
Overall it was very mediocre. I don't know maybe it's because Woody Allen isn't my thing as his films are just so dull and boring to me.
Bridgerton (2020)
A Whimsical Drama
Bridgeton is a 2020 Netflix series produced by Shona Rhimes who under her Shondaland company as well as being the creator of Grey's Anatomy created this mini series show.
The story follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family who is being bestowed upon with a wealthy suitor.
Hoping to follow in her parent's footsteps and find a match sparked by true love, Daphne's love life is running out time.
But as her older brother (Jonathan Bailey) begins to rule out her potential suitors, the high society scandal sheet written by the mysterious Lady Whistledown (voiced by Dame Julie Andrews) who casts criticism towards Daphne.
Enter the handsome Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), a committed bachelor and the catch of the season for the debutantes.
Who will Daphne end up with?. Overall its a good show that my late granny would love as she is into these sort of dramas. Each season has 8 episodes each and they run from over an hour or 50 minutes.
Ron's Gone Wrong (2021)
If you love Big Hero 6 then you'll love this
Ron's Gone Away is a 2021 animated fantasy featuring the voices of Jack Dylan Grazier,Zach Galfanikis and Ed Helms
The story follows Barney(Grazier) a socially awkward teen who gets a bot for his birthday. So his bot which is named Ron(Galfanikis) must find out more about Barney and to help him get on well at school.
Overall it was a very underrated film. The animation is nice, the story is rather predictable and the voice acting was decent. Parts of this film reminded me of 2014's Big Hero 6,as its also got the same score which is done by Henry Jackman(not related to Hugh Jackman btw)and the story is sorta like it too.
Also features a catchy song called Sunshine which is sung by the late Liam Payne.
Girl, Interrupted (1999)
From the director of Logan and Kate and Leopold comes this hidden gem
Girl, Interrupted is a 1999 Oscar Winning Drama starring Winona Ryder,Angelina Jolie,Whoppi Goldberg,Brittany Murphy and Jared Leto.
Directed by James Mangold the story follows Suzanne(Ryder) a young woman who suffers from BPD and is taken into a mental institution where she meets Lisa(Jolie) a troubled young woman, and Daisy(Murphy).
From there she tries to escape but will she ever leave?.
Overall it was a very good film with some dark undertones about suicide and mental health awareness.
James Mangold is without a doubt one of the best directors I've ever seen as he litreally tries every genre from romance(Kate and Leopold) to Horror(Identity) to musicals(Walk The Line) to even action films(Logan,The Wolverine).
If you like Awakenings then you'll love this.
Mothers' Instinct (2024)
Not that great
Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain star in this 2024 Thriller set in the 1950s about a woman named Celine who's friend Alice is grieving over the death of her son who got killed in a freak accident.
Now Alice becomes obessed with Celine's son and would stop at nothing but to have him to replace her own son.
Will Celine get her son back? Overall it was a decent film. It was cool seeing Anne Hathaway playing a villian as she already played one in the witches remake. The story was rather predictable as I figured throughout the film what was going to happen.
Not the best Anne Hathaway film I've seen her in.
Fright Night (2011)
Good watch with some familiar faces
Fright Night is a 2011 remake of the 1985 cult classic and stars Anton Yechin,Toni Collette, Imoghen Potts,Colin Farrell and David Tennant.
The story follows Charley(Yechin) a young teen who's living in the suburbs with his mom(Collette)suspects that his next door neighbour Jerry(Farrell with an American accent) is a bloodsucking vampire who is responsible for killing half of the neighbourhood.
So Charley seeks help from Peter Vincent(Tennant who I swear looks like Hugh Jackman here)a former vampire hunter who takes on Jerry.
Will Jerry be caught?
Overall it was a decent watch. Perfect for Halloween.
Dr. No (1962)
The film that started James Bond
Dr No is a 1962 Action film and it stars Sean Connery and Ursula Andress.
The story follows James Bond 007 a suavy top agent who is on an exciting mission, to solve the mysterious murder of a fellow agent.
His assigned task sends him to Jamaica, where he joins forces with Quarrel and a loyal C. I. A. Agent, Felix Leiter.
Bond later meets up with the beautiful Honey Ryder(Andress) and goes face to face with the evil Dr. No.
Will Bond save the day?. Overall it was a very good film. Sean Connery was so ruggishly handsome in this film. Plus he was very good as James Bond. His right up there next to Pierce Brosnan's portrayal as Bond.
Licence to Kill (1989)
The most short lived James Bond ever
Timothy Dalton(The Beautician and the beast),Carey Lowell and Robert Davis star in this 1989 Action film.
James Bond(Dalton in his final performance as 007)is on his most brutal mission yet. His good friend Felix Leiter(David Hedison) is left near death by a drug baron named Franz Sanchez(Davis).
So he sets off on the hunt for Sanchez, but the MI6 does not feel that Sanchez is their problem, and so they strip his "license to kill" making Bond more dangerous and rogue.
Bond gains the aid of one of Leiter's friends, known as Pam Bouvier(Lowell) and sneaks his way into the drug factories which is owned by Sanchez. Will Bond be able to keep his identity a secret, or will Sanchez see Bond's true intentions.
Overall it wasn't a bad film but it wasn't that great either. I get where Timothy Dalton was going for as he wanted his version of James Bond to be more vengeful and less of a ladies man compare to Pierce Brosnan's portrayal of Bond where his was more charismatic and chivourous. But sadly his time as Bond was short lived because of it.
Real Steel (2011)
Very good
Real Steel is a 2011 Action Sci Fi starring Hugh Jackman,Dakota Goyo,Evangeline Lily and Anthony Mackle .
Directed by Shawn Levy(Deadpool and Wolverine,Cheaper By The Dozen),the story follows Charlie Kenton(Jackman) a former boxer who uses his robots to get cash.
Things take a turn when he gets a call from the court saying his his girlfriend died and that he has custody of their estranged son Max(Goyo). At first Charlie is reluctant by this but he soon discovers that his son is also into robots and he later finds a used robot named Atom and uses his to compete in the real steal championships.
Will Atom win? Overall it was a very good film. I decided to watch all of Hugh Jackman's filmography as I seen quite alot of his films ranging from all the X Men films to Kate and Leopold to even Eddie the Eagle.
If you love Big Hero 6 and Transformers than this is for you.
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
Decent Thriller with Pierce Brosnan and Michelle Yeoh
Tomorrow Never Dies is a 1997 Action Thriller and Pierce Brosnan's 2nd time as James Bond.
This time Bond 007 (Brosnan) is on a mission which includes a media tycoon(Jonathan Pierce), his former lover(Teri Hatcher) and a Chinese Agent(Michelle Yeoh). The media tycoon Elliot Carver (Pryce) wants to complete his global media empire, but in order for it to be succcessful, he must get broadcasting rights in China.
The reason for this is becauss he wants to start up World War III by starting a confrontation between the British and Chinese waters.
So Bond gets help from an agent named Wai Lin (Yeoh) to stop Carver, but how will Bond feel when he meets up with his former lover, Paris (Hatcher), who is now the media tycoons wife.
Overall it was a decent flick that features alot of famous faces from As Time Goes By stars Geoffrey Palmer and Judi Dench to Michelle Yeoh from Crazy Rich Asians and Clark and Lois star Teri Hatcher.
I've always liked Pierce Brosnan as James Bond as he was so suavy and likeable compare to Daniel Craig.
Quantum of Solace (2008)
Not as good as the other James Bond films
Quantum Of Solace is the 2nd Daniel Craig movie where he plays the title charcther James Bond. This time him and M are dealing with a shadowy international network of power and corruption reaping billions.
As Bond pursues the agents of an assassination attempt on M, all roads lead to Dominic Greene, a world-renowned developer of green technology.
Greene, a nasty piece of work, is intent on securing a barren area of Bolivia in exchange for helping a strongman stage a coup there.
The C. I. A. Looks the other way, and only Bond, with help from a retired spy and a mysterious beauty, stands in Greene's way. M wonders if she can trust Bond, or if vengeance possesses him. Can anyone drawn to Bond live to tell the tale?.
Overall it wasn't a great film. It's also the shortest film in the franchise as it clocks in at 1 hour and 46 minutes.
