Heugbaekyorisa: Yori Gyegeub Jeonjaeng (2024)
Move Over Chef Gordon Ramsey and Master Chef
Whomever is producing these Korean Shows, you're doing a fantastic job. So much more in production value than any ohter American made chef show. Just the production set at the beginning is fantastic., let alone the individual cooking areas. I watched both of the Physical 100 shows. They were both great. The reason I didn't give it 10/10 is because they reduced the 80 to 20 to quickly. BTW, I've only watched two episodes and will bing watch the rest.
If you like cooking shows, if you like Master Chef shows, I think you will like this also. Very well produced.
To Erik_Surewaard. Please don't write a reveiw than not rate it. It is obvious that you are a fanboy of Master Chef and any other kind of chef production will not hold up to your standards, no matter how good. Do you think the first person who opened a fast food place will sue every other fast food place that opens? That's rediculous. There is always room for more chef shows.
Thank you for your time.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)
Great Sci Fi, Typical Storyline
Definitely made for very young kids. Nothing here really for adults except the great CGI and special effects.
The story is nothing new, nothing special, and nothing great. In fact, as I watched it, I constantly saw references from other action movies. In fact, much of this movie is a facsimile of so many of the same kind of movies. And as usual, most of the similarities are the ludicrous stuff, basically poor script writing.
Nice acting by all, but the same exact kind of characters as every other kids' Sci Fi. One serious, one stupid, one comical, one selfish kid, They all have pretty much the same exact personalities as other movies. Outcomes with every scene are about the same including the ending.
Thank you for your time.
The Last Thing He Told Me (2023)
Just Couldn't Get Through Another Crappy Kid And Carbon Copy Script
I really like Jennifer Garner. I had a lot of hopes for this show. But...
Dear AppleTV+. Does any of your script writers have any decent, loving, kind, thoughtful, courteous, smart, or educated children?
Every show that is made in America has nasty, snotty, selfish, egotistic, no common sense, just don't-care-about-anyone kids.
Angourie Rice (Bailey Michaels) does a great job acting, but after two and a half episodes, I just couldn't stand her anymore, and her script is no different than about a thousand other movies. Literally almost exactly the same. You would think, even a teenager could figure out that they are in trouble and just maybe smarten up a bit. But nope. Just another negative, spiteful, treat everyone like crap kid.
So, not worth watching. Just another below average carbon copy script with no action, no excitement, nothing new, many stupid decissions, and very boring series.
Thank you for your time.
BBQ Brawl (2019)
Agree With Others, Not For Everyone.
First, this BBQ show was really good. I liked the format; three, four person teams. Also, how they pick the teams, after watching the contestants perform. The set was great also, both locations as they were set up pretty much the same way. Well laid out. And it was fun to see the camera crews in many of the shots, making it not so polished. Hey, it's an outdoor BBQ.
What I didn't like isn't much, but like others, Carson Kressley was a bad choice (honestly, I don't know if you have to put a gay element into every show now). He was okay the first season, but when he starts making inuendos about pen*s size, that's to much, and to many sexual inuendos. I wouldn't let my kids watch this... If I had any. Other than him, the other two judges were fantastic, some humor, but serious about what they were there for. Now, that said, it would be nice if Mr. Flay found some new friends. Every show of his has pretty much the same people. And like I said, they ALWAYS say the same stupid (scripted) thing. Every. Single. Show. "We are going to get BF, you're going down"! For my taste, the only one I really like is Michael Symon, works hard but brings good honest fun into it. Some are way to negative, which I am very tired of. Most are, lets just say, unpleasant, especially Sunny Anderson who is pretty much obnoxious every show she is on with Mr. Flay. Some of the decisions on winners and losers, IMO, were pre arranged (third season, it felt like you couldn't have three women in a row win so Winnie lost because of that). I noticed an ear piece in all the main characters, so...
Would I suggest this show to someone? Only if you're into BBQ or love Bobby Flay. Otherwise, no.
Thank you for your time.
Halo (2022)
What Happened? Another American Typical Script
What happened? The first season was good (8.0). I just started the second season and it dived. The Master Cheif never wears his helmet. He can't make a decision. He second guesses himself all the time. He lets everyone push him around. What happened to the badacc take no prisoners Master Cheif?
And Corporal Perez (Cristina Rodlo), they gave her a crap script. A Corporal, no way. She can't fight, is chickensht, to small, and has zero military familiarity.
I just finished the first book (again), the movie may or may not follow the book, but what it doesn't do is offer Master Chiefs demeanor and posture. It does not offer the Spartan's dedication to Master Cheif or to themselves. It's just a group of individuals who hardly wear their suits and are not a team. Another crappy American script that we have seen 1000 times. What a waste of a great book.
Thank you for your time.
Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver (2024)
Four Stars for the CGI
I wasted two pints of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream for this (okay, not really wasted :). First, where did all that grand food come from? Not those poor hungry farmers. Excellent, sex within the first twelve minutes of the movie. And is this a future version of Magnificent Seven? Yep. With hints of Gladiator, again. Yep. Everyone is having a grand time before they get annihilated in five days. But the way the script goes, it's five months. Just so much stupid, inconsistent stuff. Lousy script... Again. Acting was okay. CGI was fantastic, as with all Sci-Fi movies with a decent budget. This will not get an Academy Award nomination for best costumes, maybe a Razzie.
"Oh, look, damn... They showed up"... We've seen this script at least a thousand times. Nothing new, nothing exciting, nothing exceptional. Just below average crap.
Thank you for your time.
Physical: 100 (2023)
A Great Reality Show That Out Performs
First. I would like to thank the producers and creators of this show. Unlike all American reality shows, this one stayed very positive and the team members were almost always very courteous and polite to the other players. Whereas, all American reality shows are negative, players back stabbing, and derogatory, even when meeting for the first time.
This show was a pleasure to watch, fun, and it was actually quite exciting watching the players compete. The players had great obstacles to overcome, individually and as a team, which I thought was great.
My only negative about the show was maybe some of the obstacles created circumstances where players could, and did, get seriously hurt.
Thank you for your time and am watching the second season right now.
Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024)
Fire All the Script Writers Please
Okay, first and foremost and the rest will be filler. Here is a boy brought up in a society of monks. Strict disciplined society. Yet, the boy doesn't care about anyone but himself. Is selfish, conceded, and has no respect for his elders. What the script writers are thinking about are their own kids and most kids in America. Can't they think outside their own little box and that just maybe there are kids that are disciplined, respectful of others, and just maybe want to be someone who cares?
The CGI is fantastic of course. The acting is good, but with some a bit flat. The The flying whatever are just stupid and pre-90s. We've seen this a thousand times before. There is nothing new here. The writing is just obnoxious. Not worth your time and if you have kids, I don't suggest it as it exemplifies a negative, rebellious behavior for kids.
Thank you for your time.
The Creator (2023)
Fantastic SciFi. Don't Read Into It, Just enjoy It.
I always wonder when reading reviews, what people are thinking. When I watch something, I don't think about anything but what I am watching. Not, was the actor the right choice, etc.
What I do think about is the script, the acting, and the plot. This was a great script, well acted, and fantastic CGI. I've already watched this movie three times. There are very few movies today, in the last twenty years, that can get me emotional. This movie was one of them. But I am a softy for the underdog.
Great script. No spoiled kids who don't give a crap about anything. Great acting by all; Madeleine Yuna Voyles did a fantastic job, very believable with, finally, a child that is positive and caring. Who knew! This can't be an American movie!
If you are a SciFi fan who doesn't want the standard crap. This movie is for you.
Thank you for your time.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Horrible writing. Horrible script.
What a horrible movie. How much did they spend? All the main charactors did a lousy job in acting. After about 20 minutes I saw four actors looking into the camera (they are supposed to avert or close their eyes). Many of the secondary actors did a nice job, but it is obvious their scripts were poorly written. The best actors in this movie are all the dinasaurs. They did a great job. I am so proud of them.
Can I just say stupid, predictable, self-centered kid as usual. One minute on screen and she's complaining, yelling, doesn't care about anyone, etc. Doesn't any of the Hollywood script writers have nice, polite, courteous kids??
Is this movie worth watching for all you adults with kids out there. NO. The dinasaur action is great. After that, it is dumb, a poor example for what you want your kid to be, at every corner, it is so predictable AND unrealistic in almost all the action sceens. There is absolutey nothing new in this movie, nothing unexpected (one example; plain crashes into solid ice, buried in the ice, totally destroyed, the two actors jump out unharmed, not a scratch, all makeup intact. Just stupid.
But if you have laundry to do, make dinner, vacuum, clean the windows, than this is the movie for you for background noise.
Thank you for your time.
Dahaad (2023)
Excellent
For those of you who enjoy British police/detective series and miniseries, this is for you. This series is based essentially on real time serial killer, Mohan Kumar.
There are eight episodes. Even though this isn't a fast paced, action-packed series, it is an intense, well written, well-acted series. A great slow burner. The acting is exceptional, with lead actress Sonakshi Sinha doing an incredible job. All the supporting actors also do a great job.
Production values are excellent, along with cinematography. I watched this series in one day, giving up my normal pickleball evening. IMO, it is that good. You do know who the bad guy is in the beginning, so it is not a whodunit, but a when will they catch him. Lots of twists and turns to keep you interested.
Thank you for your time.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Fabulous Effects. Same Old Script/Writing
Well, here we go again.
The good. Actually, the great. Incredible CGI. I am sure the actors worked extremely hard to make this movie. That's it.
The bad. Pretty much the same premise as the first Avatar but longer. Same acting. Very good but nothing spectacular. But I blame the script. This movie is pretty much just like the tens of thousands of movies made in America, very little imagination as far as the script goes. Scenario after scenario, most were just stupid and predictable. One thing would happen and you knew what was next, just like those tens of thousands of movies.
What I didn't really like were the kids. Do the script writers think that all kids, today and in the future, are stupid, ignorant, selfish, hateful, liars, and when in imminent danger, think everything is funny and okay. Script writers kids must be the worst. 2 hours and 50 minutes, the kids are horrible, 10 minutes (okay, maybe 15), the kids are saviors. And the dreadlocks, come-on.
I can only hope 3/4/5 are scripted, not like just about every movie ever made, with the same old scenarios, not like the first two, but with a unique direction that takes us to a new experience with smiles, laughs, cries, and adventures that we knew not were coming.
Thank you for your time.
The Mother (2023)
Another American Stupid Script.
OMG. Can't American Cinima create something new. I've watched thousands of movies like this. American writers have zero imagination. Same stupid same as always script. And lets see, same stupid, egotistical, selfish, did I say stupid, Kid. Doesn't America have any nice, studious, well mannored, smart kids? I guess all the script writers have crappy, selfish kids so they have no idea what a good kid is. Zoe's (Paez) good friend gets blown away in front of her, and all she wants is her phone. Bad guys are after them and all she can think about is herself, well, except for the last five minutes, of course. Oh and in the freezing cold, the kid becomes an expert shooter, and an expert driver. I'm pretty sure they took the snow mobile scenes off an old COD, no really.
Now, acting is really good, especially Lopez and Hardwick. Lucy Paez does a very good job but her script just stinks. Cinimatography was excellent. Just plain and simply, very bad writing.
Thank you for your time.
The Night Agent (2023)
Started Good, But Turned Into Typical Amercan Mush
I had lots of hopes for this series. The first two episodes were very good. But, as with almost all American made spy series, it went to mush. I really think American writers/producers have no clue to what reality is. The acting is okay. Cinamatography is very good. But the script is horrible. After the first episode, it went down hill. As you watch, you litterally can see the flaws in that it would never happen in real life.
Why is every kid in American cinima pissed off, self-centered, selfish, etc. Are there any good kids out there? Rose starts out good, but after the first episode, she's a btch, stupid, no common sense. After the second episode, she's an expert in the field. And Peter just gets dummer and dummer. And if that lady was so stinkin good at throwing a knife, why'd she miss?
I'll finish it, but not worth it if you haven't started it. Just poor writing. If you like this kind of show, watch something from England, Sweden, S. Korea. America just puts in to much junk and stupidity.
Thank you for your time.
Black Adam (2022)
Good But Not great, Or Very Good.
It was an entertaining movie. Lots of money though does not make a great movie. The CGI was excellent of course, that's made of money. And 80% of the movie is CGI. The actors were very good, though I didn't like all the picks. Now the kid actors, all the kids, were good actors, but the script for them was horrible, just horrible.
Why do script writers, producers, and directors in American movies make all kids out to be selfish, idiots, stupid, ignorant, self-centered, self-obsorbed, etc. They never do what they are told or do what they are supposed to. I can't think of one American movie in the last few decades that had a thoughtful, courteous, well mannered young adult in it. Maybe the script writers are crappy parents and they are using their own kids as the only examples they have (I know... Harsh). But I beleive it.
But it was entertaining, I did use the bathroom a few times and didn't pause the movie. That tells me, well, you know what I mean. But it basically is a basic, CGI, nothing special movie made in America.
Thank you for your time.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Started Great. Enough Said
The first season was great. Cinematography was great. The storyline was really good. Androids were very good. The little kids acting was very good also. The older kids acting was great also but attitude?
Second season went downhill, what a disappointment. So many stupid scenarios. And everyone lies to everyone else. So bizarre and just lousy, lazy, writing. But the worst was the attitude of the kids. Can't writers, anywhere, think that just maybe, maybe, kid's attitudes would change. The earth has gone to crap and every kid has a crap attitude, doesn't care about anyone but themselves, doesn't listen to any adults. Constantly makes horrible decisions. Constantly lies. I am so tired of every show, every series, every movie, has kids with lousy, selfish, attitudes. Bring back the 1950 and 1960 shows. I think Ragnar changed side a half dozen times and nobody cared.
Thank you for your time.
Samaritan (2022)
Really like Stalone. But who writes this crap
Stalone was great, always is. The kid, Javon 'Wanna' Walton, did a great job acting, but his caracter is so obnoxious and self centered. Steals from his worshipped hero. Who wrote this? Are all the script writer's kid like this or something. Don't they have any good examples of kids? I got tired of him after 20 minutes. Is this the only example that they could come up with? This script has been played thousands of times, exactly like this. Zero innovation. Get new script writers Mr. Stalone, please.
About the bad guys, so unrealistic. Same old bad guys. Walks into a police station, tells them what he's going to do, walks into the evidence room, after blowing up the front, gets what he wants, no problem.
As always, all of Mr. Stalone's movies have potential. Most of them are great, some are good, and a few are, watchable during a five day snow blizzard. This one, watchable while making popcorn for the next movie.
Thank you for your time.
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
Just Incredible
All episodes were exceptional IMO, in their own way. The quality of animation today is so realistic. I wonder why all movies aren't animated. Each episode had it's different characteristics, different story, different kind of animation. But I would watch each story as an entire movie. Just fantastic stuff.
Thank you for your time.
Den of Thieves (2018)
A typical Gerard Butler Movie (Spoilers)
Was the movie good... Yes. Would I watch it again even if I was desperate... No. I mean, who writes this stuff. This format has been done thousands of times. Really good acting, I liked all the actors, great choices especially Pablo Schreiber. But come on, a rouge, can do anything with no repercussions Shariff's squad who don't shower or shave. Who start a shootout with dozens of civilians between them and the bad guys. Pablo Schreiber is a crack aim, but misses every shot at the end. On the very last shot, one second later you hear the police sirens. Just very poor writing. Oh... And the FBI act like a bunch of idiots.
Thank you for your time.
Jack Reacher (2012)
Excellent Movie, Even If Jack was 5'10"
I've watched this movie four times. Every time it's great. Almost all of Tom Cruise's movies have excellent cinematography and are of high quality video. This movie is no exception. Action, acting, the flow of the movie are great. This movie keeps you involved, is the best way I can put it. There were really no slow times.
Now, many were complaining about Reacher being 5'7". But after watching the movie, I don't think it made any difference. Tom Cruise really made the person (Reacher). His presence in the movie made him bigger then he actually is. And as far as the new Reacher TV series (2022), there is no comparison, the two movies Tom Cruise made are both way more entertaining and engrossing, like the books.
Thank you very much for your time.
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
Incredible Show
This is the future of Anime/Animated Video. I hope. Incredible cinematography with superb detail on each frame. A lot of times the hands are the least detailed. Here, they are just as detailed as everything else. Storyline is fantastic, keeps you engaged thru each episode. I'll watch the entire season again just to enjoy the graphics. Thank you very much Netflix for helping Riot Games and Fortiche Productions create the next generation of Anime. I hope there will be several future seasons.
Thank you for your time.
Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 (2020)
Well Worth Watching, excellent GitS remake.
First, thank you very much Netflix. Great storyline, flowed really well. Animation I took off 1 Star. Background animation was excellent, but as some have mentioned, the characters animation is a bit old and 'stiff'. Maybe that is what they wanted, but it made the characters a bit fake. It was great that the english voice-overs were from actors in previous GitS series.
If you are a GitS fan, you should really enjoy this series, well worth watching and can't wait for the next season. But remember, every GitS remake is going to be different in some way, so take that into consideration. Nothing will be as good as the original GitS. Thank you again Netflix.
Thank you for your time.
6 Underground (2019)
One Of The Best Action Movies of 2019. Period.
This was an excellent full action movie (just like the Mission Impossible Movies). Beautiful locations. Excellent acting by everyone. Backdrops, props, staging was spot on. Cinematography, fight sequences and editing was also excellent. Of course w/ Ryan Reynolds, some good humor and comedy. It was also creatively different which was nice.
This is the kind of movie you can watch a second time, right after the first time because there is so much going on, so much action. Thank you Netflix for this movie.
Thank you for your time.
