Squid Game: The Challenge (2023)
Inconsistent logic and a lack of creativity, but good teamplay.
Contains general break down of the show, but no specific spoilers.
Many of the people who made it far is good teamplayers. However the inconsistent logic and lack of creativity drag the show down. Let me give a few examples.
- A activity for two, it was so obvious what contest that would result in. Yet everyone seems surprised?
- You have two minutes to convince someone to take your place without suspecting you, what do you do? Go up to the person you have a beef with and say there is a blue Berry muffin available.
- Basic lack of a understanding for action and concecvence (episode 8) as well as probarbility math skills on a elementary school level.
- Fairness is the players name of this casts playbook, yet when a fair offer is on the table to determine who gets voted out. That person gets the group against them?
Despite all these, the show does still have its moment and keep you hooked. There were so many moments with alternatives solutions if the majority of members could apply somewhat of a strategy and reason.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
Outstanding animation and good story but...
You already know this movie will be great, so i'll list two points of critique and then i'll join the squad with the praise. The runtime, I feel like there was too many scenes that didn't add value or was dragged out The humor was sometimes misplaced and a bit too often.
With the negatives out of the way, this movie had a story to tell and it shows but it also shows that it's a build-up A build-up for the next to come and throughout the movie you can tell.
Do i recommend it? Yes, however I don't think I will rewatch it before the next one is realeased. It's not on par with the first one, but that is to be expected as thnis movie was made with a follow up in mind that would steal the spotlight.
Carnage: Swallowing the Past (2017)
A mixture that does it right.
This movie balance humor with facts. It challenge the norm, by making "carnivores" the minority. It shows a humor filled theory how the world would take tackle climate change with the help of plant based food. It also take the perspective of how animals feel in the society we live in and express their day-to-day lives with the help of music and art.
Fairy Tail (2009)
Enjoyable, but not perfect
You already seen I gave Fairy tail a high rating, mainly due to the constant excitement and curiosity it has. The world building is great, I like the adventure, simple minded action. Overall it's a enjoyable show that always keeps you on the edge. However, I see two main issues of this long running show.
1. The power of friendship is overused. While the connection between the characters and emotions can build up hype and hope. The power of friendship becomes repetative and unrealistic which for me makes fairy tail lose some of its charm, when you know how the characters will overcome the fights... A lot of the times
2. The ecchi or semi-nudity. Some fans I'm sure enjoy this part of fairy tail, but (minor spoiler ahead!) when the gang is trapped in a dungeon, rather than exploring and thinking of a way of progress. they start a bikini show off contest. As I said while in a dungeon in enemy territory and they all tag along.
On My Block (2018)
A show that leaves you with emotions
I just finished season one of this show and the comedy along with the teenage drama in all it's glory i found the show to be good but nothing outstanding however if you feel the same way TRUST me when i say watch til the end. The ending was one of the most heartbreaking for me and i've watched a lot of shows. Simply put the comedy/teenage drama, Makes you relate and get to know the characters for it to then take a huge turn :O
Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019)
Breathtaking
This show has been given justice, this is a anime that has outdone the manga. Tanjiro our protaganist is unlike many other shonen anime protaganists (one piece: Luffy for example) while Luffy's goal is to become the pirate king, tanjiros goal does not base itself in his growth. It is his will and moral of saving others and furfilling his quest of helping his sister that drives him forward which means that gaining strengh is not the primarily focus which for me adds a new perspective to the show. If you have seen up until episode 19 and you have not rated this show, There really is no convincing you. This show is a masterpiece and you'll be hooked from the first episode!
