Starring Cate Blanchett as the infamous outlaw Lilith, Borderlands is set in 2864 on the distant planet of Pandora Lilith recruits her own ragtag team, including the reality-challenged scientist, Tannis, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, the smart-mouthed robot, Claptrap, voiced by Jack Black, and the deadly mercenary, Roland, played by Kevin Hart, who has been weapons-training for the role. Launching in 2009, the Borderlands game franchise has released four main series adventures and numerous spin-offs that blend a first-person shooter with a role-playing game to create what developer Gearbox Software calls a "role-playing shooter." Lionsgate and Roth hope to launch their filmic franchise when Borderlands hits big screens in 2024.
