Icons from Mad Men and House of the Dragon star in a new comedy-drama about an Irish town harbouring a big secret as a major production comes into town.

Small Town, Big Story sees hotshot TV producer Wendy Patterson (Christina Hendricks) finds herself returning to her hometown of Drumbán, Ireland after more than 20 years, having left under something of a cloud.

Wendy runs back into her ex and local doctor Séamus Proctor (Paddy Considine) with sparks set to fly and a big secret about to be exposed as production crews come into town.

Created by The IT Crowd's Chris O'Dowd, he based the show on his own experiences of filming the 2012 comedy hit Moone Boy about a lad with an imaginary friend.

Small Town, Big Story features actors from the world of TV and film including Mad Men, House of the Dragon as well as Irish TV.

Wendy Patterson played by Christina Hendricks

Wendy is a Hollywood executive who returns to ‘save’ Drumbán, a struggling Irish border town, by choosing it as the primary location for her television series ‘I Am Celt’ - a big budget, streamer-friendly fantasy that plays fast and loose with Irish History and Celtic Mythology.

Despite being a high-functioning emotional mess, Wendy can’t run from the sting of a teenage betrayal from Séamus – now the local doctor in Drumbán. For Wendy, the prospect of coming home is daunting, but necessary.

Christina Hendricks is most famous for Mad Men, as well as Good Girls, Tin Star, Drive and Lost River.

Séamus Proctor played by Paddy Considine

Drumbán’s trusted local GP, Séamus is a pillar of the community and Wendy’s old flame. We find his family life is collapsing and has gradually come to terms that she doesn’t feel the same.

Paddy Considine recently appeared as King Viserys I Targaryen in House of the Dragon, with more roles in Hot Fuzz, Tyrannosaur, Dead Man's Shoes, The Death of Stalin and The Outsider.

Catherine Proctor played by Eileen Walsh

Catherine is a secondary school History teacher who takes issues with the show’s shaky ‘creative license’ with Celtic Folklore and especially the mysterious red-headed TV producer who has a secret history with her husband.

Catherine is married to Séamus Proctor, a man whom she believes has failed much of his early promise and blames him for the car accident that caused her to be in a wheelchair.

The Irish actress previously appeared in Pure Mule, Eden, The End, Catastrophe, The Children Act, Maze, Wolf and Ann.

Jules O’Brian played by Patrick Martins

Jules is the ‘I Am Celt’ Assistant Locations Scout who is so enthusiastic about his job that he rubs the Drumbán locals the wrong way.

The Irish actor appeared in Redemption, the ITVX period drama The Confessions of Frannie Langton and Baltimore.

Sonny Proctor played by David Rawle

Sonny is Seamus' son who ditched his University Medical course and moved back home. Sonny is filling in for the receptionist at his Dad’s surgery as he hopes it will reignite his love of medicine.

He is best known for starring in the Irish sitcom Moone Boy, co-written by and co-starring Chris O'Dowd.

Joanne Proctor played by Leia Murphy

Séamus & Catherine’s teenage daughter finds herself caught up in her parents’ drama, which pushes her down an ill-advised road.

She previously starred in soap opera Fair City as Vinny Doherty and also appeared in Video Nasty.

Jack E McCarthy played by Chris O'Dowd

Series writer and creator makes a cameo appearance as Jack E. McCarthy, writer of I Am Celt. But the question remains whether he actually wrote the material.

Many will know Chris O'Dowd for playing Roy in The IT Crowd, as well as roles in Bridesmaids, The Sapphires, Thor: The Dark World, Moone Boy and later appeared in The Twilight Zone, Get Shorty, Puffin Rock and The Big Door Prize.

O'Dowd won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for his portrayal of Tom in State of the Union.
