Partnerships, Dell Young Leaders at the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation

2024 was a milestone year for the Dell Young Leaders program! This year, we:  ➡️ Welcomed 300+ new Dell Young Leaders to the program.  ➡️ Supported 1,000+ active students through career readiness initiatives. A few highlights from the year:  ✨ Leadership Symposium: Students explored “curiosity resilience” as a career tool and the role of AI in their career readiness journey.   ✨ Final Year Bootcamp: Students participated in a hands-on recruitment simulation offering hiring insights and the opportunity to step into the shoes of a recruiter.   ✨ Community Cook: Students cooked up a storm, emphasising teamwork, budgeting, and nutritional tips for their mental and physical well-being. From a placement perspective:  ➡️ 98% of our 2023 graduates secured employment or transitioned into career enhancing further study within just 3 months of graduation. This impact would not have been possible without the incredible support of our partners - thank you for sharing in the success of our students! As we look forward to 2025, we will be preparing our largest graduating class yet - 300+ students - for the world of work.  I’m excited for the relationships we’ll build, the impact we’ll make together, and the lives we’ll help transform in the year ahead. Wishing you all a great holiday break! #CareerReady #DellYoungLeaders #TransformingFutures

  • In just 20 weeks, OnYourMark Education’s in-school virtual tutoring helps students improve their reading skills at a rate two to six times faster than their peers. The program has reached more than 6,000 students, increasing the number of students reading on grade level by 23%. Using the Science of Reading, students focus on skills such as: ✔️ Hearing sounds in words: Recognizing sounds like the "c" in "cat." ✔️ Linking letters to sounds: Connecting letters and sounds to form words. ✔️ Reading fluently: Reading accurately, with expression and steady speed. ✔️ Knowing word meanings: Expanding vocabulary by learning what words mean. ✔️ Understanding what’s read: Making sense of stories and information. Reading on grade level by third grade predicts future academic success. OnYourMark Education is not just teaching reading—they’re laying the foundation for brighter futures. Mindy Sjoblom

    • Mindy Sjoblom Quote:
We make it our mission to get tutoring into schools and to the students who need us most.
  • Sahana Prabhu, a fourth-year medical student at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin, is blending her passion for design with medicine to transform the future of health care.    As an undergrad, Sahana’s volunteer work in the emergency department of a large county hospital revealed the difference that patient-centered care could make. She learned to connect medical and social resources, addressing the broader factors affecting patients' health beyond the clinic. Sahana’s commitment to this approach led her to spend her third year at Dell Med earning a Master of Arts in Design to help redesign health care from the patients' perspective.    Now, through her volunteer work in mental health and at the CD Doyle Clinic, she is designing patient experiences that meet individual needs. “I’m not just pursuing design on the side – I’m integrating it into my journey to becoming a doctor.”    Sahana and her classmates are driving thoughtful, patient-centered solutions that improve care and uplift their communities.    #FutureDoctor #DellMed #HealthcareInnovation

  • The Dell Young Leaders program is all about helping students become leaders – like Thapelo Mnisi, who secured a leadership role as a section engineer at a global mining firm through personalized coaching, career training, and employer connections.    The program equips students – just like Thapelo – to stand out in a competitive job market with critical skills employers need.     #LeadershipDevelopment #CareerSuccess #CareerGrowth #DellYoungLeaders #CareerBreakthrough

  • To boost learning outcomes in one of India’s largest states, the CM Rise Schools initiative is putting student engagement at the heart of its strategy. Supported by our partner Peepul, the program is already seeing promising results:    📝 11% more students passed their board exams  📘 10% improved in math and language    Comprehensive teacher training empowers educators to create classrooms that foster students’ full engagement—cognitively, emotionally, and socially—leading to better attendance, lower dropout rates, and stronger academic performance. By 2030, the CM Rise Schools initiative will establish 10,000 model schools in Madhya Pradesh.    #Education #StudentEngagement #India
