🌱 Breaking into the Environmental Field 🌱 Hi everyone! Over the past few months, I’ve been fortunate to connect with many of you who share a passion for making a difference in the environmental space. Whether you're a seasoned professional considering a transition or just starting your journey, I understand how overwhelming breaking into this field can feel. Many of you have followed my professional journey, including my own struggles in finding a job, and I’m grateful for those who have reached out to me for advice. To help, I’ve compiled a list of resources, tips, and opportunities that have been valuable in my own experience. Internships 🌟 Internships were instrumental in helping me break into the environmental field, and I was fortunate to build meaningful connections through them. Volunteering can include joining advisory boards or supporting grassroots initiatives. Conferences 🎤 Conference scholarship opportunities have been a game-changer for me, enabling me to attend events, connect with incredible individuals, and expand my network. If you're a young professional, here are some great programs to explore: 🚶♂️ Partnership for the National Trails System (PNTS) Trail Apprenticeship 🌍 Land Trust Alliance Scholars for Conservation Leadership Program 🌟 Trellis Emerging Leaders Program" Research 🧠 Remember, large organizations aren’t the only ones offering green jobs. Many smaller nonprofits and government positions are out there. If you’re passionate about a specific topic like plastic pollution, research organizations in that space and explore their openings. Other Tips 💡 🎨 Pursue your hobbies: Job searching can be exhausting, so make time for activities you enjoy. ❤️ Take care of yourself: Rejection is tough, but your health is more important. 🤝 Network confidently: Not everyone will respond, but don’t let that stop you from reaching out or introducing yourself. Breaking into the workforce can feel overwhelming, but resources like these can make a big difference.
