✨Exciting new study by IPA and Inter-American Development Bank evaluating JADENKÄ, an innovative educational model helping indigenous children learn mathematics in Panama. The study shows children can excel at mathematics and ethnomathematics while strengthening their cultural identity. The results are compelling: 1️⃣Students improved their mathematical abilities while also gaining skills in traditional Ngäbe mathematical concepts. 2️⃣Children showed greater pride and interest in their cultural heritage. 3️⃣Teachers developed deeper understanding of Ngäbe culture and language, helping them better connect with their students. JADENKÄ achieves this by integrating indigenous concepts, songs, games, and stories into math education, making the learning experience both engaging and culturally relevant. ➡️ Read the full study in the International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, authored by Emma Naslund-Hadley, Juan Manuel Hernández-Agramonte, Humberto Santos, Carmen/Carmiña Albertos de Ceano-Vivas, Ana Grigera, and Cynthia Hobbs ⤵️bit.ly/jadenka ➡️ Read the summary of the study here: bit.ly/jadenkapnm #𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗳𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #MoreEvidenceLessPoverty

IPA Philippines participated at National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) - Philippines’ 11th #MnENetworkForum2024! Together with NEDA and our Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) partners, we explored the evolving M&E landscape in the Philippines. 💡 IPA’sRight-Fit Evidence advisor Yuri Leomo led a panel discussion on advocating and communicating M&E results to improve their decision-making and processes joined by representatives from from the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), USAID Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Pacific Islands and Mongolia Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Activity (PIMMELA), and the Iloilo Provincial Government. 💡At the IPA booth, participants played a game called ‘RCTreats’ to learn about randomized evaluations. Through a quick and fun survey that aims to measure the impact of chocolates 🍫on general knowledge, we highlighted the value of randomization in generating evidence. IPA is looking forward to driving conversations and collaborating with government agencies in strengthening M&E efforts. 📈 Explore partnership opportunities with IPA Philippines at bit.ly/IPAPhilippines Learn more about IPA Right-Fit Evidence Unit at bit.ly/iparfe #MEL #IPAPhilippines #MoreEvidenceLessPoverty

What influences vaccination behaviors? Research in #Kenya suggests that children's vaccination history was more likely to be disrupted when mothers were concerned about potential serious side effects or believed children receive too many vaccines. However, #trust in healthcare workers and person-centered care were associated with a higher probability of complete vaccination rates. Learn more about the study funded by the Sabin Vaccine Institute and conducted by IPA Kenya with researchers Corrina Moucheraud from New York University, May Sudhinaraset, Beth Glenn, Peter G. Szilagyi and Risa Hoffman from the UCLA and Doris Njomo from the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI): bit.ly/ipa10053

We are excited to share an article from Stanford Social Innovation Review by IPA's Loic Watine & Lucy Rimmington on the 'Stage-Based Learning Framework' for philanthropy. They propose an alternative to typical reporting requirements when no-strings-attached funding is not an option. What are your thoughts on finding this balance? bit.ly/learningstages
