Steps to Search and Retrieve Data:

1. Choose one or more Model Run Types.
2. Select a Date range (start and end dates).
3. Select / deselect individual files from the results table.
4. Enter your Email and select Request Data.
5. You will receive a confirmation and download URL to retrieve your data.

Model Run Types

Indicates whether to include only model runs with coronal mass ejections, only those without ejections (background runs), or both.

• Coronal Mass Ejection: CME runs include the mass ejections launched into the most recent ambient steady flow.

• Background: Background includes all runs with a quasi-steady corotating structure, including high-speed streams and magnetic sector structure.

Dates

Date range over which to find model runs. Format is YYYYMMDDhhmmss (UTC). Start date/time is the beginning of the time period covered by the file, end date/time is the end of the time period covered by the file.

* Data availability begins on 11-19-2013. The most recent data from the Space Weather Prediction Center takes approximately 3-4 days after the observation date to appear on this site.

WSA-Enlil combines two advanced models, the Wang-Sheeley-Arge (WSA) and Enlil (named for the Sumerian god of wind).

Note on CME files: CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) files include both the official runs and test runs. Test runs are files that were generated for evaluation purposes but were determined to be less accurate than official runs. In some cases test runs are wildly inaccurate.

NCEI is working on a better method of filtering out test data. In the meantime, for information about distinguishing test runs from official runs, or for other WSA-Enlil questions, contact vic.pizzo@noaa.gov.

Background Runs vs. CME Runs: Background includes all runs with a quasi-steady corotating structure, including high-speed streams, magnetic sector structure, etc. This is the steady outflow produced by the open magnetic structure given by the WSA maps. CME runs include the mass ejections launched into the most recent ambient steady flow.
