The ARC buoy is deployed south of Africa where the warm Agulhas ocean current encounters colder Antarctic air. It will monitor the heat lost from the ocean to the atmosphere, which can impact winds, clouds, rainfall and storm development. ARC is the second deep ocean climate buoy to be deployed in the rough southern ocean. ARC is part of a network of Ocean Climate Stations monitoring hot spots where the ocean is releasing heat to the atmosphere, and absorbing CO2. pFad - Phonifier reborn
