I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.
And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
And then start down!
all that there is, all there must be and.. all this is enough, just beautiful.
............truly a beautiful write....showing appreciation for God's gifts to us...... leaving beauty untouched for others to enjoy......this is what life is all about....enjoyed...
I first heard these lyrics in a song by Deb Talen, I had no idea that they were by Edna St. Vincent Millay! It's a lovely song that I think does justice to the lyrics if you want to listen to it
Simple and memorable. Is that the best definition for what is best in poetry?
A simple and soothing poem... almost felt on top of the hill on an Autumn Dusk.
