If I were a child again
I'd wake up earlier than I used to
Mom won't be upset and then
The nuns won't get irked
Like they used to.
If I were a child again
I'd lend sister my paper dolls
Then no quarrels will mar the fun
And I won't have to face the walls.
If I were a child, just maybe
I'll give all my friends a treat
Buy our favorite cotton candy
But we won't stick gums in our seat.
I wouldn't be talking in class
Or sleep through dull History
I'll pray and won't giggle at mass
And my homework I will not copy.
I'll read more and perhaps do art
Hug Mom and Dad more often
Speak of my love deep from the heart
And never lie to them again.
Promise.: -)
