A powerful and very inspiring poem. So beautifully written and and well crafted
If one only quotes the last two lines of the poem, he/she misses the broad scope of life Henley lays out in rhyme. I remember studying this poem in high school, but never appreciated it as I should have until I read it in adulthood. Worth memorizing!
Whatever happen through out life I'm master of my fate I'm the captain of my soul. Very true.
hey, Disgusted, you should’ve spent the hour trying hard to write one. Mo’ Bettah.
this poem always makes the darkness seem to melt make me feel that i have some control in world that yells at me to submit surrender and do as i am told.
I hate this poem. I have been looking for a long poem for over an hour and still cant find one
Each time I read it feels 1st time and its few years since the start...
Poetry should be read with passion. This is obviously a robot
I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul..... true
to MyPoemList " Invictus, meaning “unconquerable” or “undefeated” in Latin, is a poem by William Ernest Henley. The poem was written while Henley was in the hospital being treated for tuberculosis of the bone, also known as Pott's disease." What KIND of window 'shade' did this guy have? ! bri ;)
I remember reading this poem 50 years ago in high school. It is a masterpiece and my personal anthem.
Classic & uplifting, motivated by championing the just man. A great one.
I love this poem so much. Therefore, when standing outside at the nighttime I mutter it as speaking with universe in a way.; D
A timeless and wonderful poem powerfully expressed.
