Materials:
Play Coldplay's "Life in Technicolor" Be aware of the different layers and how they come in. Do they come in at different dynamics? Are some of the sounds harsh/some are soft? Hand out different colored post its. Each post it represents a different layer. Organize the post its onto a piece of white paper. Be prepared to play the song again. The result will be a type of Music Mosaic on each paper. ("Eye of The Tiger" can be another example) These examples will help the students with their new mini Garage Band project. Refresher on How to Use Garage Band: 1. Log onto your computer. Be prepared to use that computer everyday. 2. Open Garage Band. Select New Project and "Loops" 3. Show them an example of how to add a loop. The first loop should be a steady beat. 4. Add another loop. Show them how to mute a track. Unmute the track and record on the next track using the KEYBOARD. Show them how to drag the loops to a different measure. 5. Playback. Change the volumes. 6. Add the third loop.
