OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
A couple of weeks ago, someone asked me how she could make the season of Lent more meaningful. So, I thought Id offer some insights I hope are helpful as we continue our journey toward the cross. Below are some thoughts Ive put together. Are you searching for something more? Tired of running in circles, but not really living life with direction, purpose or passion? It's pretty easy to get caught up in the drama of classes, relationships, family, and work. Our lives are filled with distractions that take us away from living a life with Christ. We try to fill the emptiness inside us with mindless TV, meaningless chatter, stimulants, alcohol, too many activities or other irrelevant stuff. We run away from life and from God. Lent is a great time to
"repent" -- to return to God and re-focus our lives to be more in line with Jesus. It's a 40 day trial run in changing your lifestyle and letting God change your heart. You might try one of these practices for Lent: FASTING: Some people have been known to go without food for days. But that's not the only way to fast. You can fast by cutting out some of the things in your life that distract you from God. Some Christians use the whole 40 days to fast from candy, TV, soft drinks, cigarettes or meat as a way to purify their bodies and lives. You might skip one meal a day and use that time to pray instead. Or you can give up some activity like worry or reality TV to spend time outside enjoying Gods creation. What do you
need to let go of or "fast" from in order to focus on God? What clutters your calendar and life? How can you simplify your life in terms of what you eat, wear or do? SERVICE: Some Christians take something on for Christ. You can collect food for the needy, volunteer once a week to tutor children, or work for reform and justice in your community. You can commit to help a different stranger, co-worker or friend everyday of Lent. Serving others is one way we serve God. PRAYER: Christians also use Lent as a time of intentional prayer. You can pray while you walk, create music or art as a prayer to God, or savor a time of quiet listening. All can be ways of becoming more in tune with God.

This years Palm Sunday Egg Hunt will take place on Sunday, March 24th! Donations of individually wrapped candies are needed! (No chocolate please!) THANK YOU!
Palm Sunday
Children are invited to wave palm branches at both services.
The Worship Committee will once again be hosting a Seder Meal on Maundy Thursday evening, March 28th. Scripture says it was at a Passover meal with his disciples that Jesus shared the first Communion. Through this meal we can see the manner in which Jesus reinterpreted the Passover in light of his life and mission. During this meal, Jesus showed the disciples that he represented a new covenant, one which delivers us from slavery of sin. The Worship Committee is asking for help to defray the cost of providing this meal. Donations should be marked Seder Meal in the memo line of your check or on the contribution envelope.

E A S T E R L I LY MEMORIALS
With Easter soon to be here, you may want to consider purchasing an Easter Lily for the altar in memory of a loved one. Please be sure to contact the office about who the plant is to be dedicated to so that your loved ones name may be included in the memorial insert on Easter. These flowers are a beautiful addition to the altar as well as a symbol of remembrance.

OBITUARIES 33 AD
Jesus Christ, 33, of Nazareth, died Friday on Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha, the place of the skull. Betrayed by the apostle Judas, Jesus was crucified by the Romans, by order of the ruler Pontius Pilate. The causes of death were crucifixion, extreme exhaustion, severe torture, and loss of blood. Jesus Christ, a descendent of Abraham, was a member of the house of David. He was a son of the late Joseph, a carpenter of Nazareth, and Mary, His devoted Mother. Jesus was born in a stable in the city of Bethlehem, Judea. He is survived by His mother Mary, His faithful Apostles, numerous disciples, and many other followers. Jesus was self educated and spent most of His adult life working as a Teacher. Jesus also occasionally worked as a Medical Doctor and it is reported that He healed many patients. Up until the time of His death, Jesus was teaching and sharing the Good News, healing the sick, touching the lonely, feeding the hungry, and helping the poor. Jesus was most noted for telling parables about His Father's Kingdom and performing miracles, such as feeding over 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish, and healing a man who was born blind. On the day before His death, He held a Last Supper celebrating the Passover Feast, at which He foretold His death. The body was quickly buried in a stone grave, which was donated by Joseph of Arimathea, a loyal friend of the family. By order of Pontius Pilate, a boulder was rolled in front of the tomb. Roman soldiers were put on guard. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that everyone try to live as Jesus did. Donations may be sent to anyone in need.
