Lesson Objectives/Aim/Goal 2 Echo Students will learn a new song, sing it together and play it together on recorder. The students will understand what a round is and ultimately 3 Time signature play their new song as a round. 4 High/Low pitch Essential Question/Questions 1 How do you finger B, A and G? 2 When does your group begin playing during the round? Where do you start? 3 What is the highest/lowest pitch we know? Students will demonstrate the ability to: 1 Play the new song on the recorder together and as a round. 2 Echo patterns I play with my back facing them.(ear training) 3 Perform their new song as a round. 5 Repeat
Education Standards Addressed 1 Singing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music. 2 Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music. 3 Reading and notating music.
-Music books The students know how to play B, A Writing the title of the song Its in -Recorder and G on the recorder and some of the BAG -Piano them know what a round is.
Materials Needed
Student accommodations Allow students to participate as much as they are comfortable in round activity and repeat activities until everyone is at the same learning point.
Vocal Warm-ups/Instrumental Warm-ups -Rhythmic pattern repetition on recorder on several pitches with my back facing the class for ear training -Singing patterns as well
Listening Experiences (Attentive, Engaged, Enactive) 1 Listening to my rhythmic patterns on recorder and repeating
2 Listening to each row play and sing the -Singing pitches of song together song 3 Playing/singing the song together as a group 4 Playing song as a round on recorder
Total Participation Techniques Playing new song as a round in two groups formed into circles on the floor. Listening Experiences (Attentive, Engaged, Enactive) 1 Listening to my rhythmic patterns on recorder and repeating 2 Listening to each row play and sing the song 3 Playing/singing the song together as a group 4 Playing song as a round on recorder
Lesson Development (motivation modeling, guided practice, transitions, Blooms Taxonomy) 1 Recorder shadows not facing the class Time: 10 minutes 2 Clap rhythm of new song after dictating on board, then add speaking pitch names with clapping Time: 5 minutes 3 Sing together on pitch names and different syllables Time: 5 minutes 4 Play together on recorder. Check row by row. Time: 10 minutes 5 Split class in half and play song as a round. If comfortable, move students to floor having the two groups facing each other and play as a round. Repeat until comfortable. Switch parts. Time: 10 minutes
