At camp we have learned about Red Wolves, an endangered animal in North Carolina, but there are endangered animals in different environments around the world. In the African Savanna some endangered species include the African Elephant, Black Rhino, Lion, and Grevys Zebra. Poison Dart Frogs, Golden Lion Tamarins, Jaguars, Three-toed Sloths, and Hyacinth Macaws are endangered species that make their home in the Amazon of South America. In The Great Barrier Reef of Australia, the Humpbacked Whales, Corals, Green Sea Turtles, and Dugongs are trying to survive and increase in number. Habitat loss, pollution, introduced species, global warming, farms, and poaching are some of the threats facing these animals today. Some of these threats are the same ones the Red Wolves face right here at home. Can we help these other species too? There are some things you can do. You can learn about animals, help them, and share your ideas. Visit zoos, nature reserves, and national
parks and learn as much as you can about endangered species. Share what you learn with your friends, parents, teachers, and maybe even the president! Help feed animals in your yard by making a bird feeder. Recycle when ever you can. Power plants pollute the environment, so turn off your lights when you don't need them to help endangered species. To learn more about these endangered animals, the threats they face, and ways you can help, please visit this web site: http:// www.sheppardsoftware.com/content/ animals/kidscorner/ endangered_animals/overview.htm. If you want to let the President know what you have learned, you can send him a letter to this address: The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20500
POINTS TO PONDER
Fairy tales distort the images of animals to make their stories more interesting. Red Wolf volunteers are greatly rewarded for their time. Allowing people to kill coyotes at night is destroying the red wolf population because of mistaken identity. Humans have created the extinction of animals.

In the newly released second episode, Slough Creek, players find a den, establish a territory, raise pups and defend them from predators such as coyotes and grizzly bears. Online multiplayer games let up to five players form a pack to explore and hunt together. The WolfQuest experience goes beyond the game with an active online community where you can discuss the game with other players, chat with wolf biologists, and share artwork and stories about wolves.
