Meaningful Use Stage 1 requires entities to have an EHR system. ACOs must be aligned with the Meaningful Use criteria for EHR systems.
Meaningful Use Stage 2 requires Health Information Exchange. To share information, provides must have an EHR system. ACO must demonstrate that 50% of its Primary Care Providers are Meaningful Use EHR users.
Must include a minimum of 5,000 primary care professionals in the organization to be considered an ACO.
