AED Automated External Defibrillator is an equipment that is used when a suspected cardiac arrest victim has an apparent LACK OF CIRCULATION. The victim would be unconscious, breathing is abnormal or not breathing and absence of a pulse these are signs that show lack of circulation. However this equipment cannot be used where the person is conscious, is breathing or with a detectable pulse. In medical terms AED is commonly used by First Aid Rescuers where as the victim is suffering from a CARDIAC ARREST, could be due to an electric shock. BRINGING THE VISION TO LIFE Channa Egodage

Response to Incidents
Personnel that are exposed to situation like working in Live Electrical System are at risk of getting electrocuted which would lead to fibrillation (uncontrollable twitching) of the heart. On this instance we have to save the persons life by providing emergency treatment before the Ambulance reaches the work site. With the AED in place, specially trained First Aiders would be able to save the victims life. At New York University project - Abu Dhabi, we have placed two units of AED at site and numbers of Manual Resuscitators for quick response to any kind of electric shock incident that may arise.
