The heart is a hollow muscular organ located slightly left of center in the chest cavity that pumps blood through two chambers and four valves into arteries and veins. Blood carries oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, white and red blood cells, plasma, and platelets throughout the body in a continuous cycle driven by the heart's contraction and relaxation.
