Neil Armstrong

Neil Armstrong was born in 1980 in a farm in north Weston Ohio. His
mother was called Viola Armstrong and his father Stephen
Armstrong.

When he was 2 he saw airplanes for the first time. He was fascinated.
Neil enjoyed the roaring engines and the spinning propellers.

When he was 3 his sister June was born.
When he was 5 his brother Dean was born.

When Neil was 6 the Armstrongs were living in Warren Ohio.
Neil and his father saw a special airplane, nicknamed Tin Goose.
Neils father took him for a ride in the airplane.
The flight was 15 minutes but Neil wanted to fly forever.

Neil began to learn about airplanes.
He also started building model airplanes.
When he went to 1

grade he read 90 books.
When he was 7 he skipped half of 2
nd
grade to 3
rd
grade.
In 3
rd
grade he read books for 5
th
graders.



When he was 9 his parents gave him a telescope

When he was 10 he got his 1
st
job.
When he was 15 he got his 1
st
flying lesson at Port Koneta.
When he was 16 He could fly planes by himself and got his flying
licemse.

When he was 17 he graduated from High School and decide to go to
college to become an airplane engineer but he couldnt afford so he
joined the Navy.

When he was 19 he trained for the Korean war.
When he was 21 he sailed to Korea.


When he was 25 he returned to America he finished his degree so he
got a job-Test pilot, flight engineer. For developing space program.

When he was 26 he married and he got 3 children.

When he was 32 the NASA accepted him for the astronaut program.

When he was 36 he went to space for the first time. His space ship
was called Gemini 8.

When he was 39 he was commander of polo 11.
It was going to be the 1
st
landing on the moon.
On July 16 they blasted off. On 20
th
July Neil Armstrong took the 1
st

step on the moon.

Thats 1 small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
