This document provides instructions for building and testing a circuit with a zener diode. Students are asked to:
1. Build the circuit with a zener diode, 330 ohm resistor, 1k resistor, and power supply.
2. Vary the power supply from 1-20V and measure the voltage across components.
3. Calculate the currents through each component and record results in a table.
4. Graph the results and determine if a 350mW zener can be used based on maximum and minimum zener currents.

330 1k 5,1V V CC ELECTRONICS 1 PRACTICAL 4 1. Build the circuit below. 2. Set the power supply as low as possible and apply it to the circuit. Use a potentiometer to get down to 1V. 3. Measure the following and fill it in on the table: 3.1 Voltage across the zener diode V Z . 3.2 Voltage across the series resistor V S = 330 and calculate the total current I T . 3.3 Voltage across the load resistor (1k) and calculate the load current I L. 4. Subtract I L from I T to get I Z and fill it in on the table. 5. Repeat 3 and 4 for the other voltages on the table and draw the graphs on the next page. 6. Calculate I Z(MAX) and I Z(MIN) to determine if a 350mW zener can be used in this circuit.
