ABSTRACT

A finite group G is a quasi p-group if it is equal to p(G), the

subgroup of G generated by all of its Sylow p-subgroups. This study

is an exposition of Harwood’s two papers entitled “Quasi p- or not

Quasi p-? That is the Question.” [8] and “Two Quasi 2-Groups” [9].

Harwood provided the elementary properties of these groups and

classified each group of order less than 24 whether or not it is a

quasi p-group for some prime p. This study therefore aims to present

these properties and extend this classification to some groups of order

less than 32. Moreover, it assimilates GAP(Groups, Algorithms and

Programming), a free software program for computing discrete

algebra, as an aid for presenting examples and for the classification

of some groups in this study.
