    Analyze the quote above. Is it true? In what

    Women in Ancient China


    Ancient Chinese women were subordinate to men
    for most of their lives. First she would obey her
    father, and after marriage she answered to her
    husband. According to Confucius, a womans duty
    was to look after her husband, sons and the other
    men in her life. As such, her greatest duty was to
    have a son. That didnt mean that she shouldnt be
    respected: her role as mother and mother-in-law
    was very important and she should be honored by
    her offspring. In their old age, women were often
    respected by their families as the oldest living
    member, especially if they survived their husbands.

    1 .Each group meets together (1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, and 5's). Decide who in
    the group will read sections 1-4
    2. Each member reads their section and takes notes:
    Major vocabulary terms in section.
    Important facts or details
    Your response to your section, or a question you have.
    3. Group meets back together and each person teaches the others
    about the section. Other members should take notes.
    4. Together, create a poster that represents the most important
    elements of a woman's life in ancient China. You must all agree on
    what is included.
