    How to make a Clone Virtual Machine


    Well as you can see that it is very time consuming to install an operating system on the vmware,
    so how can we overcome this problem?
    Note: if you dont know how to install a virtual machine in vmware please go through these two
    topics

    The answer is "CLONE VIRTUAL MACHINE", with this concept you can make multiple
    clone machine of a original machine but its mac address and some other properties are different
    from parent virtual machine. It is very useful when you are testing some network environments
    because if you make a clone of virtual machine after the installation of operating system or some
    default settings of the network you can revert back to the default configuration if you have a
    clone version of that machine.
    For example if you have install the Microsoft office on the parent operating system after that you
    have created a clone of the parent operating system, so MS Office will also be copied in that
    clone virtual machine . So it is good in environments where you want to install the operating
    system for the employees and after the installation you will install the MS Office and blah
    blah....... So it come in a handy tool for the network administrator to reduce the load of the bulky
    installation of softwares.
    There are two types of clone in vmware
    1. Full Clones
    A full clone is an independent virtual machine, with no need to access the parent. Full
    clones do not require an ongoing connection to the parent virtual machine. Because a full
    clone does not share virtual disks with the parent virtual machine, full clones generally
    perform better than linked clones. However, full clones take longer to create than linked
    clones. Creating a full clone can take several minutes if the files involved are large.
    2. Linked Clones
    A linked clone is made from a snapshot of the parent. All files available on the parent at
    the moment of the snapshot continue to remain available to the linked clone. Ongoing
    changes to the virtual disk of the parent do not affect the linked clone, and changes to the
    disk of the linked clone do not affect the parent.
    A linked clone must have access to the parent. Without access to the parent, a linked
    clone is disabled.
    So in this tutorials we will make a linked clone of a virtual machine.
    So first you will go to the virtual machine and right click on the virtual machine go to mange and
    click clone.

    Click on Next->Next->Create a linked clone

    Select the location of clone virtual machine and then click finish, after some time clone will be created.

    Click on close. You will see at the top left panel that there is a machine created.
