Daily Procedures
1. Students will come into class in an orderly fashion, sit in assigned seats, and start
on Jump Start assignment on board.
2. Anyone late to class will be marked tardy and sent out to get a pass.
3. Class will then proceed with Topic Introduction or Review.
4. Every Friday is Lab day which will include an experiment and a written lab
report.
5. Every Wednesday will be a Rootword Quiz including the10 root words on the
assigned list for that week.
6. If a student needs to leave the classroom at anytime they should have the Hall
Pass in their planner signed.
7. All students should raise their hand and wait to be acknowledged by the teacher
before leaving their seat for any reason.
8. In order to be dismissed from class when the bell rings students should listen
politely to any final instructions and then wait to be dismissed.
Assignments:
GRADING POLICY
All work must be legible, neat, and written in pencil, dark blue or black ink.
No credit for late work (unless due to an excused absence or learning modification).
All class projects will be submitted for plagiarism scanning and reviewed for proper
referencing.
Excused Absences:
***Good attendance is essential!
Students are responsible for all work missed; it is the STUDENTS responsibility to check
the class website or contact teacher to receive their make-up work.
Check with the teacher BEFORE or AFTER class, NOT during instruction time.
Tests and quizzes not made up within 2 days of return will result in a grade of zero.
Tests:
The student is responsible for all lectures (in class notes), material and readings
assigned from the text, and review sheets. If you are present for the majority of material

taught, but absent for a test review, you must still take the test on the announced test
date. Any student caught cheating on a test will receive a grade of zero; this grade
cannot be made up!

Notebook: 1 inch 3 ring binder with dividers to be used for Science ONLY. The dividers will be
labeled with each topic of study.
Class Rules:
1) Sit in your assigned seat when the bell rings and remain there until instructed otherwise.
2) Bring ALL required materials to class daily.
6) Cell phones should be off and away at all times. If a cell phone is out it will be taken and sent to the
office were a parent will have to retrieve it.
7) Do not rock back in chairs
8) Drawing or marking on desks is considered school vandalism and may result in automatic
suspension.
Consequences:
1) Verbal warning
2) Teacher conference with student/Seat change/Detention essay
3) Phone call home/After school detention
4) Any violation that is offensive or threatening to the teacher or another student will result in
immediate classroom removal.
Referrals will be written for continued disruption or for any violation of school rules. Please see the
student handbook for details.
Notebooks
Each student will be required to keep a Science Notebook for this class. It should be a three ring
binder with 5-6 subject dividers with the following headings for each divider:

Review Sheets
A table of contents will be provided which the students should keep updated. Each page in the
notebook should be numbered according to the table of contents. This notebook will be handed in and
graded at the end of every semester.
