Re: Auburn Man jumps from 2nd Story Window in an Attempt to Avoid Arrest

On January 14, 2010 at approximately 1:06pm Auburn Police Officers responded to 28


Franklin Street looking for an individual wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.
Officers received several tips from anonymous sources that this wanted subject had been
seen recently at this location. Police setup surveillance on this residence and observed
the wanted individual enter the residence. As police made contact with the tenant of this
residence officers gained access to the apartment and the wanted subject jumped from a
2nd floor window in order to avoid arrest. The defendant was quickly apprehended by
officers waiting outside of the house.

The defendant, 27 year old Andre D. Denman was charged with numerous offenses
which included an outstanding arrest warrant for petit larceny and harassment and
additional charges stemming from his attempt to avoid arrest resulting in a resisting arrest
charge. Detectives also interviewed Denman concerning a separate on-going
investigation involving an allegation of Denman engaging in sexual intercourse with a
female less than fifteen years old. Subsequent to this interview Denman was additionally
charged with rape 2nd, and endangering the welfare of a child. Charge specifics are listed
on page two of this release.

Denman was subsequently taken to Auburn Memorial Hospital for treatment of a broken
left ankle resulting from his leap from the 2nd story window. Once treated Denman was
arraigned in Auburn City Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of
$15,000 cash bail, $30,000 bond on the rape in the 2nd degree charge.
