IN MY CLASSROOM YOU
WOULD SEE
HANDS-ON LEARNING: In my
classroom, students will be using
tools such as white boards, Ipads,
unifix cubes, pattern blocks, and
more to maximize active
engagement. Students will always
have opportunities to participate and
stay involved through kinesthetic
learning.
TECHNOLOGY: It is very important
to me as a teacher to stay current
with all of the up and coming
technologies that are tailored for
educational use. In the classroom,
technologies will be used such as
Smart Board, Promethean, Ipads,
and computers to display new
material or review material through
the use of games, videos, apps, and
more.
ORGANIZATION: I will keep my
classroom organized and running
smoothly with a clear and consistent
routine that will be practiced daily.
This includes schedule, classroom
management techniques, and more.
Also, my classroom will always be
clearly labeled so that students know
where all of the classroom resources
are. It is imperative that my
classroom be clean and organized to
hopefully encourage my students to
be organized as well!
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Positive Classroom Climate:
In my classroom, I believe it is vital and
imperative to have a positive classroom
climate. This will ultimately enhance
willingness and ability to learn because kids
will feel safe, comfortable, and more
confident in the classroom. One of the things
I adore most about teaching is the chance to
build a strong rapport with every student. It is
very important to me to form a relationship
with each student so that they feel
comfortable talking to me about more than
just academics.
Holistic Learning:
Children should have the opportunity to
understand why they are learning the content
and material that is being taught. It is not
effective enough to just give students material
without showing them real world application
and logic behind what we want them to learn.
It is important to me as an educator to be
holistic in the aspect of giving students a real
purpose for learning.
Constructivism:
Rather than creating a set of lessons
that should be taught exactly as I write
them, I feel that when in the classroom,
students should construct and form their
own knowledge. It is necessary to first
give students guidelines and parameters
for the material, but I also feel that giving
the students the opportunity to take
control of his or her own learning will
make their achievements much more
beneficial and stimulating for them.
Allowing the kids to use their
environment, their own experiences, and
prior knowledge to form ideas. Learning
should be an active process, not just
information that a teacher hands to his
or her students. I feel that the student
should be just as involved as the
learning/teaching process as the teacher
is. While using this philosophy in my
classroom, I hope to encourage
students to create and construct new
ideas as well as their own methods to
learn material. Students will be more
confident in their learning which will
further help them to retain material due
to the connections they will be making to
past experiences and the environment.
Students will also be excited to be active
and engaged in my classroom due to all
of the involvement they get to participate
in through the learning processes.
