1. The drama club at Happy Day High School sponsored a variety show to raise money for a trip
to New York City. Student tickets sold for $2.25 each and adult tickets sold for $4.60 each. All
200 seats were sold and the club made $699.10. How many student tickets and adult tickets
were sold?
2. Gregs basketball team held a raffle to earn money for an out of state tournament. Adult
tickets sold for $5 and student tickets were $2. The team sold 500 tickets for a total of $1450.
How many of each ticket was sold?
3. A breakfast menu lists 2 eggs with 1 sausage patty for $2.23 and 3 eggs with 2
patties for $3.76. How much do you pay for each egg and each sausage patty?

4. At a pro basketball game, the turnstile count showed 17,406 people paid admission. The total
cash received for tickets was $183,372. Without actually counting the ticket stubs, find out how
many paid $10 for reserved seats and how many paid $6 for general admission seats.
5. A scuba diving resort offers divers two plans. Plan A gives 3 nights lodging and 4 dives. Plan
B gives 5 nights lodging and 8 dives. A new price list comes out in which plan A costs $440 and
B costs $780. What price is one night of lodging and a dive?
6. Colortime Bakers wants to make 30 pounds of a berry mix that costs $3 per pound to use in
their pancake mix. They are using blueberries that cost $2 per pound and blackberries that cost
$3.50 per pound. How many pounds of blackberries should be used in this mixture?
7. A wholesaler is offering two different packages of custom printed T-shirts and sweatshirts to
groups for fundraisers. One package contains 10 dozen T-shirts and 14 dozen sweatshirts for
$1544. The other package contains 18 dozen T-shirts and 8 dozen sweatshirts for $1472. Find
the cost, in dollars, of a dozen T-shirts.
8. All 28 members in Crestview High Schools Ski Club went on a one-day ski trip. Members can
rent skis for $16 per day or snowboards for $19 per day. The club paid a total of $478 for rental
equipment. How many members rented skis and how many rented snowboards?
9. A restaurant charges one price for adults and another price for children. The Snowflake family
has two adults and three children, and their bill was $40.50. The Reindeer family has three
adults and one child. Their bill as $38 determine the price of the buffet for an adult and the
price for a child.
10. During a workout session, Mark either ran at a speed of 7 miles per hour or walked at a
speed of 3 miles per hour. He completed 20 miles in 3 hours. How much time did he spend
running?
11. English is spoken as the first or primary language in 78 more countries than Farsi is spoken
as the first language. Together, English and Farsi are spoken as a first language in 130 countries.
In how many countries is English spoken as the first language? In how many countries is Farsi

12. At a sale on winter clothing, Jamie bought two pairs of gloves and four hats for $43.00.
